That's me - no worries. I watched NBA before the Kings arrived (mostly Celtics (Bird), and Lakers (Magic / Kareem), because that's who was on TV) and also followed Jordan around the time the Kings landed here. But I didn't get to watch much basketball on TV at the time. Despite that, when the Kings moved here they became MY team and that's who I want to watch. I also only have so much time in my days and when I watch NBA I watch the Kings. I don't give a flying rip about the Blazers or Suns or Magic and actively dislike the Warriors and Lakers. So, if my son has the PO on right now I'll half watch the game for the heck of it while I'm reading a book or working or something, but I generally don't care who wins. And if I don't care who wins, I don't care about the particular game being played.
If the Kings left I'm not sure exactly what I would do. Depends on the circumstances, I guess.
I like going to OSU games with the in-laws in Oregon to support the Beavers. I've gone to hometown basketball games to support the locals. And I enjoy them all.
It's the same with football - I'll watch pretty much every 49ers game but don't generally care about any other games. Baseball (Giants) and hockey (Sharks) I don't watch at all on TV but like going to games in person. If any of these teams are in the PO I tend to watch.
Just because I don't watch other teams doesn't mean I don't like the sport. I am just focused on the teams I like. I already waste enough time in front of screens. I'm not about to do it for teams I have no interest in. I've got a book list a dozen deep I need to get to. I should get more work done around the house than I do sometimes. My Netflix, Disney+, and Prime queues are very long and getting longer. Diablo 4 is always sitting there wanting some attention as well. I prioritize certain things. I can't do it all. If my teams are playing or in the PO, I try to watch as a priority. If not, I try to catch up on other things.
We all consume sports differently!
