Offseason Trade #1:

To Kings:
Larry Hughes
Tyrus Thomas

To Bulls:
Brad Miller
Shelden Williams

The Bulls need a C and have 6 guards. They are able to unload Hughes bad contract as well. The price is the downgrade from Williams to Tyrus.

This trade makes us worse for next year, but Hughes and Miller have the same contract amount and length. Also gives more time for Tyrus and Hawes and gives us a better pick next year.

Offseason Trade #2:

To Kings:
Trade Exception

To Suns:
John Salmons

Unloading a bit of salary, as Salmons is useless with Artest still here.
We gain a 1st in the process, which is always a good thing.

This leaves us with an opening roster of:

Udrih / Douby
Martin / Hughes
Artest / Garcia
Tyrus / SAR / KT
Hawes / Moore

Add in our 1st and 2nd round picks for the upcoming draft.

Next years trade deadline will most likely be VERY uneventful for Kings fans, as we still won't be able to unload KT or SAR, and Hughes will most likely stick as well.

Draft of 2009:
We have 2 1st rounders and a 2nd, very good for stockpiling assets.

Now the 2010 season is our season.
Kenny Thomas (8.5M)
Shareef Abdur Rahim (6.6M)
Hughes (13.7M)

That would be 28.8M of expirings to use in a trade. Package them with some picks, and maybe we can pick up a star from a rebuilding team?

Another route that we can take would be to make this trade this offseason:

To Kings:
Stephan Marbury

To Knicks:
KT
SAR
Moore

And use Marbury's big expiring contract to make a deal, while dumping the dead weight we have a year early.

not to put you down but i dont think hughes and marbury would fit well marbury has proven to be a selfish type player and can hurt team chemistry and hughes well he is just very average. But i like the idea of shipping out miller.

So we trade a usable and good Center in Brad Miller for an unusable Larry Hughes since we got Martin and Garcia we really don't need him. Then we trade 3 of our only 4 big men for yet another worthless piece of crap in Marbury. Come on are we even trying?

Ok, obviously we become a ****tier team with these deals, but we save money.

yes, Marbury destroys team chemistry, but who says we have to play him? he is basically here becuase hes a big expiring.
And we then get that much needed 22M in cap space a year earliar.

And yes, Hughes is useless when we have Martin, Artest, Garcia, but I think it is worth it to take on his contract for the upgrade from Shelden Williams to Tyrus Thomas.
Lets face it, we aren't going to make any playoff runs anyways, so why not?
I agree, that this makes us weak in the front court, as we will have Hawes, Tyrus and not much else for the PF and C positions, but Artest can get spot up duty at PF when we play small ball, and we can either draft a another big, or dangle Garcia + for another one.
Who knows....... but financially and for the future, these trades made sense to me.
And if we can ship Hughes in the Marbury deal, then even better.

Okay, let's summarize:

1. We become a much worse team.
2. We bring in another team cancer in Stephon Marbury.
3. We bring in another useless player to sit and fester on the bench in Larry Hughes.
4. It further weakens our front court AND assumes we're going to still have Artest.


Sorry, but that deal is not any good at all. Saving money is not that important when you look what you've done to the team.

not to burst your bubble but phoenix does not have their 1st this year. they traded it to seattle for their exception. however they do have the ATL's 1st. not sure they are gonna trade/sell it with the way their playing. they might pick a center prospect with that pick.

i don't like the trade for hughes.. the guy isn't any good.

i like that trade to NYK of getting marbury. dumping alot of petries mistakes in one blow is a feat. starbury's expiring will be worth alot in trades.

nay to artest back. i'd dump him at first chance even if it means we are taking less talent in return.
