1) why should ATL do this? I'm not so high on Williams anyways, but it's an upgrade on Garcia for sure.
2) Ok, but if MKG is still available, I'd get him
3) Ok
4) Ok
5) Ok
6) Not going to happen. The maloofs won't waste any money waiving a player who has a contract for the next 4 years. Then, if he somehow manage to play like he did at the end of last year, I don't mind having him around as our 10th player.

Overall this is within the ballpark. Williams is an uninspiring chocie to be sure, and I've said befoire we simply can't blow it again at that position. But he has become a high percentage three point shooter, and that's a primary consideration. I Like Drummond, TWill, JT though as the offseaon haul. Lon g and athletic. Again. Call our 1 year redescent into short, stubby and soft as what it was: stupid, and then get back to work.

Agreed that Williams is not a first (or second or third) choice to fill the void at SF, but he has the size and his 3pt. shooting has come around (39% last year.) He is under contract for about $8.3 mil for 12/13 and has a player option for $7.5 mil in 13/14. So he may be a 1 year rental if he thinks he can get more $$ on the open market. The only reason the Maloofs may make this trade is is save about $200k this year. About have the price of our second round picks' salary. I like the moves as long as Drummond can be (at minimum) a solid defender in the paint and good rebounder.

I would take a look in FA at Josh Howard or Landry Fields or Mickael Pietrus or Nick Young or Brandon Rush for the SF spot. Fields is probably the hardest to get as the Knicks will probably resign him. Pietrus is a defense/ 3 pt shooter this team needs, although he had trouble with Lebron. Young and Rush also provide the 3 pt shot consistently. Howard can create his own offense and provide vet leadership.

I would also target Kaman in FA. He adds vet leadership as well. Hinrich as a backup pg and 3 pt shooter. Hinrich is what Fredette wants to be, but currently isn't. I would also explore a trade for Bayless from the Raptors. He distributes the ball very well and has a decent offensive game. Wouldn't need to give up too much as the Raptors will probably want Calderon over Bayless.
