can anyone with firsthand experience shed some light on general BAC levels? brick is following 5 drinks an hour as .08, through the state of colorado. but i dont agree with that, and for the CA dmv, 1-2 drinks an hour is about .08, so which is it? i know it varies a lot, so where does the range fall into? the discrepancy is annoying me.
5 drinks in an hour gets you to .11 if you are about a 180lb man.

2 drinks wouldn't get you to .08 unless you weighed 100lbs sopping wet.

Its a reasonably straightforward mathematical equation.

The 1 drink an hour being processed by your body, and so needing to consume 1 an hour to maintain that blood alcohol level after you reach that level is me working from memory. Believe its correct though.

When people say "drinks" what are they generally talking about? There's a hell of a lot of difference between 5 whiskeys and 5 beers.
1 drink equals roughly 1 shot, 1 12oz. beer, or 1 5oz. glass wine.

Full glasses of whiskey on the rocks or whatnot would get you there faster. Then again, you have to be a pretty serious drinker to be drinking those.

So at 180lbs you could either do a round of shots. Then another. Then another. Then another. Then another. Or you can chug 5 beers in an hour (which would probably leave you feeling pretty bloated). Either way, its far more than you could just do without knowing you had been out drinking.

one, "shot" of whisky is supposed to be equivalent to one."beer," or even one glass of wine. I am actually about the same size as muss and i have a relatively high tolerance for beer and wine. But im sure i drink more often than he does. If he failed the sobriety tests then he probably was a lil tipsy.

Thanks for the clarification.

Guilty. Although I have to say it's generally what most people drink over here.

Edit: oops I meant a shot of whiskey... not a full glass.

brick, did you even see my last post? i found this on the dmv's web site:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/pgs72duichart.htm

according to this, 3 drinks would have put him in the .11 BAC range in an hour, not 5.

THIS is what i am confused about. i can read your chart just fine
