I don't know if this is Nelly's bag of tricks again--screwing with matchups and generally creating a hostile environment for his players when things aren't clicking. Monta obviously had the motorcycle mishap, got a late start to the season, now has Jamal Crawford taking his place in the lineup/lessening his minutes amongst other problems, but this is purely the Warriors' fault for even leading their players to ask for a trade. Al Harrington asked for one, B-Diddy actually chose the Clippers over them, and now Monta may be gone...I think their ship is really sinking. And now Nelly's asking for Jamal to opt out of his 2 yr $19mil remaining so they could save some $. Amazing.
But the trade deadline's over, and assuming that Ellis's side and the Warriors don't make amends, if there's a time to get Ellis, it may be now. He's still young, has already produced at a high level for a former playoff team, scores at a high percentage and irritates slower guards to no end with his ability to get to the basket. I think someone can actually lowball for Ellis with the state of disarray in the Warrior's organization, what with them trying to cut costs and especially if Crawford wants the $ and doesn't opt out. Doesn't fit our team, especially if we are to get Jeff Teague for whatever reason in the draft, but can be useful for other teams.
