Looks like Verlander went for the Stros FRP last year that's already in AA and their #4 prospect in the system. Mets are probably paying a crap-ton of his salary, but man. Our equivalent of this is probably trading like Reggie Crawford and Wisenhunt.
Are you kidding? What are they doing? Isan back in lineup too. I don’t really get itThey send down Luciano for Pollack. Lol

Brandon and LaMonte both kindly request that you hold their beer, Sir.I can’t even be bothered to turn the tv on with the lineup they’re fielding tonight
Sometimes, the best move is the one that isn't made.
Makes sense. Their were no real game changer bats available anyway and the 2 SP's worth anything (Verlander/Scherzer) cost quality prospects. Would anyone have been happy if we sent Matos for one of them?
I think the move is just continue to stay the course, develop the youth, open a blank check for Ohtani and then you're in a position to be a real buyer at next years deadline. I just didn't see anyone available this year that vaults us into true contender status.

One thing I've learned in sports is that it truly pays off to wait and be patient.
I have to disagree on there being no moves out there. There were some moves made by other teams where they used prospects in the 18-30 range it seemed. And not talking about the innings eaters SP but at least a bulk inning guy or 2. The goal has to be to make the playoffs right? Could have added a bat for the short term without sending off a major prospect.
Want to stick with the young guys, I’m good with it. But why go away from Luciano and Schmitt and now we are playing Isan who has not proven he can perform at this level. Why Pollock? Hope is not a plan and they are hoping he has something left. Should have stayed in the organization and stayed with the young guy.
Mark Canha was traded for a minor leaguer Justin Jarvis who is not in the Brewers top 30 prospects list….unless I’m completely missing him. Canha actually fits what SF does with his ability to walk AND he has ability to play 1b.Who though? Or I guess who of the bats that got traded is actually an upgrade to what we have? Dejong is fine, but he's been pretty bad the last few years and league average-ish this season. Jake Burger has some pop, but he's DH only. Josh Bell has some good history but he's been poor this year too. Pham is having a good year, but we don't have any room to cut anyone out of the OF. And he's 35, so could very easily regress. I like Choi too, but he's been awful this year and is essentially just a bad version of Wade. Platoon guy as well. Candelario is a good stick, but where do you play him? He's 1B/3B only.
Idk, it's annoying we didn't do anything, but there wasn't really much to upgrade on here at the deadline.

He’s just one example but I’d guess we would have had other opportunities.
I do think Farhan has given Kapler a good roster in general with the emphasis on platooning. If you look at the roster as everyday players, then no, it doesn’t look good but as platoon guys, it’s pretty good, not great but good…..he’s using the Tampa method here. A guy like Canha >>>> Pollock which is absurd at this point in time. Maybe Pollock shows out.
I was definitely looking for arms though. I wasn’t looking for middle infielders. But I did think we needed an OFer.
One of the issues with the roster after they outlawed the shift is they now can’t play Wilmer at 2b very much. Doesn’t have the range for it but did when the shift cut down on the area a guy had to cover. So you have JD and Wilmer and Wade all needing to be in the lineup along with Joc but they don’t want to play Wade in the OF, nor do they want Joc out there meaning that often one of the guys is sitting
Letting Gausman back-fired bigtime, but the early returns on letting Rodon go look FANTASTIC
Ya gotta have some faith, Slabster. Also, remember...We're in an odd year...Worst L of the year. This offense isn’t going to get it done.
