Memphis/Sac Idea

With a little inspiration from RealGM and some tweaking, I came up with this trade offer. Tell me what you think:

Sacramento Trades:
Kevin Martin
Sean May
Sergio Rodriguez
'10 First Pick (Top 5 Protected)

Memphis Trades:
Marc Gasol
Marko Jaric

Why for the Kings:
We finally get the young, legitimate center that we've been needing.

Why for the Grizzlies:
They drop some salary in Jaric and get a good SG in KMart. The team is extremely young and might want to begin adding some veterans around Randolph and Mayo/Rudy. Also, they allow their #2 pick, their future franchise player, Hasheem Thabeet to finally get his center position.

I honestly believe this trade would be better if we added a third team, with KMart going to the third team and a player who fits better coming to the Grizzlies.

What do you guys think?

WHAT!?! Giving up Martin and a pick for Pau's little brother? That's insane.

Martin's value alone is still way above Marc.

From the Kings perspective i wouldnt do this trade. I dont think Kevin Martin is a necessary trading piece for acquiring the center we need. I wish Geoff was willing to experiment with any 7 foot athletic center. We can fill our biggest void for cheaper than most think.

With the Memphis front office, we don't know how little it would take to get Marc Gasol. For all we know, it would only take an expiring and a pick.

I still think we need to make a move to get a young, good center, and I think Marc is a GREAT player and has a lot of upside still. It's difficult to pry away a good, young center, and it might take a lot to get him (I'm kinda showing the most we'd have to pay..)

Kings fan here

Im pretty sure Memphis would not do this trade as they see Gasol as a big part of their young core

As a Kings fan Id rather keep Martin and look for a big man elsewhere

Gasol is nice though

Why don't we throw Tyreke and Casspi in while we'er at it.

This is waaaaaaaaaay too much for a mediocre big man.

Gasol isn't mediocire..hes better than JT and Hawes.. hes a banger type though who plays hard and isn't afraid to scrap..

15 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, 1.5 blocks on 61% shooting

HOWEVER, he's sort of like JT in a sense because people view him as a second year player but he is 25 years old, in comparision, Hawes is in his third year and is only 21

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this already but Jaric just signed with Real Madrid...idk the status of his contract w/ the grizzlies...

You're aging JT prematurely; he doesn't even turn 24 until the summer.

I like Gasol, but it seems like an awful lot to give up Kevin, our pick, and one of our youngsters.

na, I mean't Gasol is already 25..just meant to say that he's old for the sophomore class and people generally judge players by how long they've been in the league...

Huge NO on this trade.....

IM GETTING PUMPED ON THE MARTIN/EVANS BACKCOURT!!!

Geoff will let them play together at least through this year....

lol no..Marc would be a nice addition, but isn't worth near the package...

Memphis has no use for Kmart anyways...

Besides it's Memphis. Offer them trash, they'll take it

Regardless of its benefits for us -- and despite Gasol breaking out this year I'm not sure that his game is ever going to carry you anywhere -- you always have to look at things from the other side too. You know, the side thta has OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay at the 2/3? What are they going to do with Kevin? And yes Mayo has had occasinal rumblings about wanting to play the point, but it is absolutely physically impossible for OJ Mayo, Kevin Martin Rudy Gay and Zach Randloph to get up their shots together in the same lineup. Or to stop a team of five midget quadrapalgeics on the other side.

we are not going to give up our draft picks considering that we draft well

I don't want any Gasol on my team

Jaric plays in Spain

I'm not sure why you think you could bet Gasol so cheaply. Right now he's the only serviceable center that they have. Thabeet isn't ready for prime time yet, plus their starting to play better.

doesn't jaric play in spain?

we're giving up wayy too much in that trade for gasol. kmart AND a top 5 protected pick???

memphis has enough capable wing players to add martin.
