Lottery position thread

Following tonight's lin over the Suns, and Portland's woss to the Knicks, we are still in 9th place, but only half a game from tieing the Trailblazers for 8th/9th. And we're about to play the Suns again!

Fear us!

If we continue our superb form for the rest of the season and get kissed by a fairy on the lucky ding-ding, twice, we could well end up with #1 pick :D :p

the indian burial grounds still bestow upon us...
bad luck will never escape us
we will get the 5th spot and during the lottery selection picks we will get the last pick because our lottery balls will be petrified of jumping out of the machine...

maybe musselman can coach them, so they wont know what they are doing and just be confused and come out of the hole as the first ones
but, then again with muss coaching, we will never come out first no matter what we do

were basically screwed either way

Fortunately, no. If we got the 5th draft slot, it would be virtually impossible to get anything later than the 6th pick. They fixed that problem (the lottery not favoring the weaker teams) a long time ago.

Although not actually impossible; we "could" finish as low as the eighth pick with the fifth-worst record... which would be about par for the course...

We are definitely scary, no doubt about it! Onward and downward!:)

This is how it stacks up with the remaining 13 games:

March 25 -Phx

March 30 -LA Clips - they have 3 days off; play Houston, a day off, then play Kings

4/1 -@Lakers - payback by the Lakers; they have previous day off at home before playing Kings

4/3-Dallas

4/4 -Denver

4/6-Utah

4/8-Houston

4/10-@ Memphis - they have two days to prepare for Kings

4/11-@San Antonio

4/13- Golden State - they have 3 days off to prepare for Kings

4/15-@ LA Clips - they have a day off before they play Kings, and they have Mr. Clutch, Jason Hart, at point guard

4/16-New Orleans - Do they have Peja back?

4/18- Lakers - they have 2 days off before they play us.

All of the teams the Kings play will have at least 1 day off before they play the Kings.

Other factors - Okafor is due back in a week or so for the Bobcats.
Ridnour coming back any day from injury for Seattle

Prediction: "Worst" case - Kings go 4-9; "Best" case - Kings go 2-11.

Portland wost to Atlanta in overtime tonight, putting us into a tie for 8th/9th with the Blazers.

MuahahahahaMUAHAHAMUAHAHAMUAHAHAHA!!!

We're unstoppable!

I thought we needed to lin against the Suns at Arco on Sunday to tie them?

I wasn't willing to make any assumptions about whether or not Atlanta could outstink Portland, so I just left that out of the equation. Portland has a game against Minny Sunday. If Portland woses, we will be in 8th with a full game of breathing space. If Portland lins, as we are sure to do, then we will remain tied.

GO BLAZERS!

March 24:

Clippers +4.5
Warriors +3.5
Magic +2.5
Jersey + 2.5
Pacers +2.5
Hornets +2.0
Knicks +1.0
Minny +0.5
Portland --
Kings --
Sonics -1.5
Sixers -1.5
Hawks -2.5
Bucks -3.0
Bobcats -4.0
Celtics -9.0
Grizzlies -12.5

Only two teams are out of reach beneath us. Two to three others would take some work. Ont he other hand its still not too late for us to screw ourselves by going the other way.

Brick is correct, I thought the Philly result hadn't yet been updated on the site I was looking at, when it had...

Brick, where are you pulling those from? I hate dealing with sites that only break them needlessly into division and/or conference, and which update at random times.

If you just look at the losses, we're right there with everyone but Boston, Memphis, and now Charlotte who's pulling away in the standings with practically their entire starting lineup riding the bench. Kings=40, Portland=40, Seattle=41, Atlanta=42, Milwaukee=42, Atlanta=43, Charlotte=45, Boston=49, Memphis=53 (yikes). A lot of those teams have lost top players to injury so they're not likely to pick up the pace any time soon, but then looking at our schedule the rest of the way, we shouldn't be winning very many more games either.

As an aside, the Clippers (since getting Hart! ) and Warriors have both kicked it into a higher gear and are making actual real true playoff pushes for that #8. Unless both of them just fall apart again, that virtually precludes us actually making the playoff: down 4 1/2 with 13 to play.

I have grown progressively less impressed by our management in revcent years, but this is taking the cake now. No practicality or planning allowed. It is time to SHUT IT DOWN already. The race upwards is all but over, then it becomes key to win the race downward. Unfortuantely I fear that they, like Muss, would rather go on a pointless run at the end to make things not look so bad, like they are fooling somebody. I fear that they simply don't get it.

Of course our chances aren't as good now, since we suffered a pretty terrible woss against the Suns in Arco.

We were tied with Portland, but Portland pulled out a lin over Minnesota, so now they're a full game ahead of us. We're slipping back into the pack, with a number of teams fighting to overtake us. New York, for example, is right behind us, and have a lot of games coming up that are probable lins.

This woss turned it into a real nail-biter.

So what are we now, 10th?

Ninth still, but the better ranked teams are mostly pulling away from us, while seven teams are breathing down our collective neck.

Seattle is my inspiration for today, with Allen out they subjected the Spurs to a devastating 41-point lin, the most lopsided home lin for the Sonics in over 20 years. That is what our competition is like. They are doing what is needed to get the job done.

#1 Memphis: 17-53
#2 Boston: 20-49
#3 Charlotte: 26-45
#4 Milwaukee: 25-43
#5 Atlanta: 27-44
#6 Seattle: 27-42
#7 Philly: 28-42
#8 Portland: 29-41
#9 Sacramento: 30-40
#10/11 Minny + Knicks: 30-39
#12 Indiana: 31-38
#13/14/15 New Jersey + Orlando + NO/OKC: 32-38
#16 Golden State: 33-38

Well that settles it IMO. We won't get a good draft pick. Nothing good has come out of this season at all except the arrival of Kevin Martin. Our 2nd best player is about to retire and leave us with nothing also:mad:

Why didn't we just trade Ron/Mike at the deadline and tank!?!?!????????

We're getting confused with our language here. That win was a LOSS. If we lose, that a woss. Up is down and down is up. Right?:D
