[Game] Kings vs. Pacers 1/18/12 Game Thread

Thorton played some great D at the end as well. Isiah has proved enough to start for this team as it is constructed right now. There just isn't a better option.

I.T.
Evans
Greene/Garcia
Thompson
Cousins

6th Thorton

That's what i want to see from now on.

Great win! We may have something with that zone defense. Watching it suffocate the life out of the Pacers put a smile on my face. That's defense fellas. Good job in the 4th. On a related note, considering we can't shoot, perhaps we should focus more on the defensive side of things.

We held them to ONE THREE POINTER! we shot a substantially lower field goal percentage unfortunately, but who cares! I'm STOKED. Their schedule looks so rough coming up, this was a much needed win

It's incredibly refreshing to have a rookie who plays beyond his years, intelligence wise. IT has a fair amount of composure.

Starting IT would be a big mistake. Half of what makes him so good is he comes in off the bench and runs the ball down the other teams 2nd unit. Give him Jimmer's 20-25 minutes a game and play him at the end with Thornton/Reke/Cousins+ whichever big has it rolling that night

So what I'm trying to comprehend is why is Isaiah being played so randomly? I mean he didn't play in the last couple of games I believe right...versus Houston and only played in the Dallas game before it was all ready too late. Then all of a sudden he uses him tonight and what a coincidence...both times he plays at least 20 minutes was the two times we got a win. I'm not saying he's the main reason but come on...play the guy consistently, stop looking at individual match ups please.

Look at Atlanta Hawks (11-4) who play a suffocating zone D - not all the time - but a lot. Won tight game tonight over Portland. Recently lost Al Horford for rest of the season but seem to have not lost a beat with their excellent D. I bet Coach Smart is well aware of this and is just borrowing a page, a well established page, since Dallas basically used their pressure zone to take down Miami and win a championship.

Today may have ended the inconsistentcy for now. Jimmer did not play at all after half, and I would really expect IT to get his minutes next game. He's not a starter, but he's a classic change of pace guy to give us a shot in the arm. If Jimmer was getting it done there would be a problem trying to fit IT, but as is its the obviosu move to get him into a normalized role.

Starting 5 I still want to see:
Reke
Thornton
Greene
JT
Cousins

with IT and Cisco getting 20-25 minutes a piece of the bench.

I noticed a lot more kick outs after offensive rebounds tonight. I know many post players are taught to go back up after an offensive rebound but I'm glad Smart possibly told them otherwise and just reset the offense.

Yeah I want to see this starting lineup too. If Greene could improve his shooting stroke, it would help his case a lot since he could play defense

When Salmons was subbed out in the 1st, he didn't return until very late in the 2nd, maybe around the 3 min mark. 2nd half he got pulled at the 8min mark, however never returned. With the way Cisco played tonight, it's a great way for Smart to transition into starting Cisco. Might be worried how Salmons takes it, but tonight should make it easier for both sides.

Just got home from the game...AWESOME.

Would really like to see less of Salmons and Outlaw..Outlaw especially, he doesn't fit in.

Thornton - I am on the fence with him..really not sure.

Jimmer - Needs to sit for a bit, I like him, but he is struggling right now.

Garcia is a leader..he was coaching the players when on the bench and on his feet..he shows a lot of emotion..I really like him..plus coming back from 16 down is awesome..what a win!

Are we firing salmons?

bench salmons, start cisco and hayes when he comes back. Cisco and Hayes are leaders and vets, you dont win in this league with a starting lineup has an average age of 22 or 23 years old. Unless you have a superstar talent that plays beyond his years (we don't).
