That damned selection bias showing again.

In the 23 minutes Thompson was on the floor, Griffin was held to 3-8, with 5 rebounds and 3 turnovers. He only had 4 turnovers for the whole game. Griffin did all of his damage against Patterson.

But, by all means, don't let facts get in the way of your bitching.
So no one saw Cousins cheating inside with Griffin pretty much the entire game Blake was on the floor...?

My god.

And if me stating my opinion is "bitching" then I don't think this forum is for me.

Thought a die hard Kings fan was welcome but I guess not. See ya guys, I won't be back!

Patterson should start with D-Will now starting, hopefully he finds his outside touch because Williams is a mismatch at the 3 as a slasher.

I'd rather we stay away from the whole stretch 4 thing personally. We lost the lead with Patterson out there down the stretch because Patterson had no chance of stopping Griffin. We need a defensive presence at PF and a PG who can guard the position. Williams has to learn to shoot if he's going to be the starting SF long-term. That's the bottom line. He played very well tonight otherwise. I don't think the outside shot is unobtainable for him though. I was watching some old draft coverage for him after the trade earlier this week and came across this video. This is a guy with a history of being able to hit shots from the perimeter. Our coaches need to figure out what's broken with his shot right now and correct it.

I wonder why all of a sudden cuz decided not to help Ppat? Since that's the only reason JT stopped him.

So instead of judging JT by what happened tonight you judge him by what would have happened had cp3 played? Is that what you are saying? I mean why this game. He shut Blake out in first half and to start 2 nd half. Blake may have gotten 8 pts on JT. And you choose this game to say he gets bullied in the post? Most of blakesmpoints were 18 ft jumpers
Only one of the three field goals that Griffin had against Thompson was inside of nineteen feet. And even that one was twelve feet out, on the baseline, so it's not like he backed Thompson down and dunked on him. The scouting report says you're supposed to give him those shots.

For the game, Griffin hit exactly two shots in the paint: he was being guarded by Patterson, both times.

It gets a little testy around here. But you get used to it once you learn that it's nothing personal. There are just some very opinionated people here who like to discuss basketball. Of course you're welcome to stay and state your opinion as much as you like. I've been very critical of Thompson myself. I felt like he gave a pretty solid effort out there tonight, but I certainly understand your frustration with him. I'm ready to see someone else get a look at PF next season.

Well from what my friend here says that's really cuz fault because he decided not to help pat on Blake. Maybe cuz hates Ppat. I dunno. This was a good learning opportunity for my friend here and he is apparently gone now. Well if that chased him off he wouldn't last long anyway. Need thick skin here

Confidence. Not being afraid you'll get pulled from the game if you miss a shot. That's all that is wrong with the shot.

Nice find there. He has a very good stroke and just needs to get some consistent play to get his flow and rhythm back.

I'm impressed with what he brought tonight. Physicality and skill to go with it. I think we've got a 'steal' in our hands

Eh, I'm hardly a Thompson homer but, it's like I said earlier: for the past four years, Jason Thompson has survived every single attempt by the front office to replace him. And, in the last few minutes of regulation and overtime, Patterson put on a clinic of exactly why he's succeeded at it.

We have tried Landry Ppat hickson and Robinson. JT can't be beat out.

Yup. He was looking over his shoulder with the Wolves, with no confidence to just let it flow. He can do that with us. I would give him big minutes ASAP. Starting right away was good, but he needs consistent big minutes to get full flow and rhythm. No pulling him out for 8-10 minutes

Too bad he wasn't "cheating" inside with Griffin when Patterson was out there; we might have won.

EDIT - Ninja'd by Entity.

So why was Thompson not out there in OT...? And why did he have 4 fouls in 23 minutes...? Not to mention having the same amount of rebounds as Marcus Thornton. I watch damn near every Kings game, so I see it night after night. The dude has to fight for minutes year after year, coach after coach on 20 or 30 win teams. He is not a very good basketball player. I'm not basing this off of 1 game. He would be sitting between Hayes and Thornton if Landry never got hurt.

Oh I agree, we got a nice dose of "good JT" tonight and it's one of the primary reasons why the game was as close as it was. I don't have a problem with "good JT". He's a solid role-player who plays within himself, doesn't force things, and competes against whoever you want to match him up against. It's when his cousin Mr. Hyde shows up that I start wanting to pull my hair out. Probably the only thing that's not working with JT is our inability in five plus years to acquire a front-line starter to push him to the bench and the previous regime's preoccupation of over-stuffing our roster with undersized scoring forwards who can't do enough of the things that actually matter -- rebound the ball and defend the rim -- to justify stealing minutes from the one guy out there who does. Install him as the backup PF for 20-25 minutes per game and get rid of all the pretenders and my JT approval rating will probably shoot way up. At least until the next Mr. Hyde appearance anyway. :)

You do realize we had Landry in his prime? And JT beat him out.

Oh and btw when you are guarding a guy 18 ft from the basket, which JT was on Blake because Blake wasn't getting inside. You don't get many rebounds out there.

I'm sure that the reason why Malone didn't play Thompson in overtime is because he thinks that Patterson is the better option. Unfortunately for Malone (and us), Patterson seems to be going out of his way to prove him wrong.

Loved what I saw from DWill. McLemore is going to get a ton of easy buckets because he isn't scared to push the ball like Greivis. I'm not sure Greivis is the right fit for this team. He has his moments but for the most part we aren't going to constantly P&R. We need someone who is going to push and get our athletes the ball, and if that isn't there dump it down low to Cuz and be able to spot up shoot.

Someone like Jimmer! just kidding

Best front court we had was JT,Landry, dalembert, and cuz in cuz rookie season. That was depth. That would be nice to have now

The decision to go with Chuck Hayes instead of re-signing Dalembert still smarts (no pun intended). And just maybe if Petrie hadn't gone all googly-eyed over Marcus Thornton, we could still have Tyreke Evans on our team.

It is interesting that Ben got more assisted dunks in one game from Williams, than he has the rest of the season from anyone else

Has it really been that bad? This is the first full game I've seen this season. Fast break points should be a regular thing with that duo. I liked the way Williams would cut to the basket to see if he could find an opening when Cousins was working in the post too. There's a lot of potential for the two-man game there along the baselines

Somebody actually willing to pass it to him on the break. Isaiah was the only other one to run down with him but isn't giving it up

Then we let Dally go for Hayes....

And Dalembert is still a quality starter on a 10-7 Mavs team. He's averaging nearly 2 blocks, 7 rebounds and shooting 61% from the field in 23 minutes a night... Petrie smh

Have you noticed that Vasquez almost avoids him?

Yeah, I was noticing that all game too. McLemore is working really hard to get open looks and Vasquez isn't patient enough to let the play run out or he just plain isn't looking for him.

I don't want to talk about Vasquez right now. I'm kinda mad at his defense. Bmac gets a pass he is a rookie asked to guard freakin jamal Crawford. I can garantee Ben will be better at defense by the end of the season. I can't say the same for Vasquez or thornton for that matter
