Kings vs. Boston SL Game thread

His defense was very good throughout. TRob was quicker at both ends and played his best game by far. Held Sullinger to 6 pts in 28 min while getting 15 pts, 16 reb and 3 ast himself. In my view he was playing more as a SF than PF but was a PF down low and around basket. He scored a number of times using an awesome spin move, put backs and some nice jumpers.

I agree, his defense was much improved. It wasn't great, but definitely an improvement. Honestly, with his length, quickness and leaping ability, I don't understand why he doesn't block more shots than he does. I think it's something he should be a lot better at.

Offensively, I still think he's rushing his shot, which is contributing to many of the misses around the basket. He mentioned the difference in the speed of the game compared to college and I think he's overcompensating a bit. When he learns to slow down and take what's there, I really believe he'll start finishing better.

Btw, It was nice to see him dominante the glass today.

Let's see if this one flies over your head as well:

I cited Alex English 100% for YOUR benefit. You are the guy who does the worship the celebrity/professional ball bouncer thing, not me. I am quite confident in my analytical abilites without having to reference anyone for support.

Now, given your worship for the talking heads and authority figures, and given that YOUR criticism DIRECTLY contradicted one of YOUR heroes, perhaps you may want to back off, or at least find some way to weasel around your inconsistency.

On the other hand it doesn't effect my analysis one way or the other. I know what I have seen, I've got three decades of seeing similar situations under my belt at this point, and if Alex wants to agree with me, well good for him. If he doesn't, not so good for him. But it still doesn't change for a second what is going on on that court.

Man, you are really pompous...George Maloofish in a way

Really, you haven't even seen me in full swing, and trite little insults like that are just silly.

"You haven't seen me in full swing"... "don't make me use the bat"

I was pointing out that often times your comments are condescending and simply exhibit a bully attitude of "me know more, me right". Your response led total credence to that. In fact, I couldn't have made up a better post to support what I was pointing out.

You do a have a lot of hoop knowledge and I appreciate your insights and conntributions. I admit the Georgie slight was a bit much, but dude, chill out and enjoy some humble pie now and again.

You are a riot. Seriously. Much of the non-sense you type comes out of left field.

Please, enlighten me how anything you are saying about me is true. The only time I recall referencing any of the "talking heads" was the Magic reference I just cited. You brought up Jerry Reynolds another time, in a feable attempt disparage my take on shot blocking. And like you just said, I don't care whether his take agreed with mine or not. I never quoted or cited him as a reference or an influence regarding my opinion. You just assumed that's where it came from and dropped his name. Regardless, I correctly retorted that he has worlds more credibility than you or I will ever have, right or wrong.

So who else have I cited that deserves this "worship hero" crap your spewing? Don't just say it. Back it up. Burden of proof is upon you.

Lastly, you are far from the only person here with decades of experience watching games. I've got as much or more experience than you, yet I'm not at all touting myself as more knowledgable than those actually affiliated with the game. While nobody does their job perfectly, there is a good reason they do what they do and why we don't. Your problem is, you not only think you know more than everyone on this site but also the professionals that make a living doing it. I hate to break it to you, but you don't. And to clarify, I'm not talking about beat writers or the general press. I'm referring to players, former players, and those actually drawing a front office check.

So pound your chest and have all the confidence in your analytical abilities that you want. It's fools gold. It in no way makes your opinions superior to the other knowledgable members of this site.

We agree on one thing though. None of this banter changes what happens on that court. The only thing that differs is the interpretation of those happenings.

Some people can never be wrong, even when they are. I learned that from my 'older' siblings.

This is 100% spot on. It's one thing to have confidence in your knowledge of the sport and use that knowledge, along with facts, when debating ideas/opinions with others. It's an altogether different thing to pull the "I've seen and know more than you" card each and everytime someone has a dissenting point-of-view, all while using snarky comments in an attempt to bully and belittle. To me, that doesn't demonstrate confidence in knowledge, but rather reaks of insecurity.

Game, Set, and Match.

In other news Brick is on the short list for the head coaching position for the Orlando Magic and GM job for the LA Clippers.

I like the cut of your jib.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Honestly, I'm not here to get into a pissing match with Bricklayer and hijack this thread. My apology. I said my piece and now I'm done.

Moving on to Kings related topics, it was nice to see the Kings get a win to close out Summer league today even though it means absolutely nothing. One of the positives is that Thomas Robinson and the Kings staff have plenty of film from which to dissect, learn and make improvements to his game.

Of course you realize that both Coach Smart and Coach English are encouraging him to consume more calories to aid his bulking up to take advantage of his increased workouts to build more muscle which requires more calories.

Of course I realize that. I also know the differences between a dirty bulk and a clean bulk, as well as the advantages. Of course you know the difference too.

I think we've yet to see the best of Robinson. I didn't watch any of his college games, but from what i've seen in this summer league, it looks like he's capable of a whole lot more.

I agree. He's got a lot of work to do, but he looks to have a lot of tools in which to work with. While he doesn't appear to have as much upside as DeMarcus Cousins, he still has the potential to be a really good complimentary player.

If DeMarcus, Tyreke and Robinson all develop to the level we all hope, this team has a chance to be really good without relying on a miracle in free agency.

Don't worry about Brick, he's a pompous prettyboy most of the time. It's his way or no way. I enjoy reading your insight and hope you continue posting on the board. It would be nice to read someone's thoughts on the Kings that doesn't regurgitate the musings of a few posters on this site

While it doesn't mean much, it's nice to see Trob have a great game. If anything, it shows he's learning how to adapt to a semi-pro style game/offense/defense and adjust his game accordingly.

you sir are a legend!

Post of the millennium!!!

T-Rob seemed like he had a better idea of what to concentrate on in this game - rebounding and defense. If he does that this coming year, he'll be fine. He's barely scratched the surface on his game.

Kurz couldn't carry Spencer's jock. 2 years ago I had him tagged as the very worst player in the entire NBA. The fact that the normal shooting obsessed crowd wanted to give him credit as anything but was embarrassing. He is terrible.

Your love for Irish players in the NBA is well-documented.
