Vivek might need to trade everyone. If it gets worse at least there is a clear line instead of this, "Well, Gentry could hang on.... maybe." That's not a plan, that's going wherever the wind takes you. Vivek needs to get a legit person to lead his franchise. And it will probably cost him a percentage of the team. So be it. He's watched his franchise quadruple in value since he bought it, use it or lose it.
That's going to be really tough because there aren't a ton of teams oozing youth and picks that are looking to make a jump now. Monte has already drawn his line on value and he drafted older/less upside role players to start a build off if he does set the fuse. That means you might not be terrible enough to get super high in the top part of the draft anyway. Players like Haliburton and Mitchell will likely never take over games but they'll be good enough now to rip out some wins you don't want.
And if someone by the name of Chimezie Metu is getting 1 more shot in a game than your star, well, you'll get out what you put in. In the NBA the only real good shots involve your best players. The idea of "best shot" is for the birds.
They are totally different teams. They resemble a modern team to a T and have depth in the way the Kings don't. The Kings have very few players that can generate their own offense. They are what they are, and if they expect a Metu to be the key, they're wrong. And they will always be wrong. His defense/hustle is great but the offense is too team oriented for a team lacking in all the ways you can't in the modern NBA.
