[Game] Kings Versus Grizzlies, 11/6/10 7PM

The Game Thread Dude
Well well well. Hello referees/ 3 extra Laker players. The faces may change but it's still the same. The refs are about as fair as a boxing match with a man with ms. But that being said, the blame for this loss doesn't just fall on the bad officiating.

We went through cold stretches in this game so bad that I'm now positive that Al Gore was lying about global warming (please no politics, this is just hyperbole). Seriously, we went through a 7 minute stretch without a field goal.

Luther Head played good D on Kobe in the 4th. Unfortunately, he also played good D on himself by taking stupid shots and missing the shoots he's supposed to be good at. Isn't this the same guy we brought in to be our sharpshooter?

Once again stupid fouls were our enemy. WHile the refs were bad, our Big 2 made several stupid attempts that led to their bench warming in the 4th quarter when we still had a relative chance.

Defense is good for you, especially the kind that keeps the other team from scoring wide open 3s. Just sayin'.

And now I must really, really take issue with the coaching. A 5/4/3 line-up of Sammie/Carl/JT? Really? REALLY? Are you that steadfastly against playing Donte? Just because we have size doesn't mean we need to utilize it stupidly. I mean Donte is 6'11" and capable of playing 3. Why not try him instead of shifting our 4/5 over to the SF spot instead?

Sammy D. I love your defense and rebounding but PLEASE don't take anymore jumpshots. You were brought in to be our goaltender not to be a chucker. If we wanted one of those, we would have brought in Channing Frye.

WE NEED MORE KINGS FANS AT THE GAME WHEN THE CRYBABIES ARE IN TOWN!!!!

Reke took over in the last 4 minutes but once again it was too little too late.

50 bucks to the first guy who punches Kobe in the face.

Memphis in town. They are good but they got blown out of the water by the same team that we managed to muster a reasonable, if inadequate effort against. They are tough (kind of) and are a good measuring stick in regards to our position in the conference right now.

KEY MATCH-UPS
Reke vs Mayo: Both players could have a bit of trouble with each other but I think Reke is simply better and will win this match-up. Although that ankle may throw a wrench in this.
DMC vs Zach Doughboy and the Fat Gasol: Good test inside. Neither of them are as good as Pau but still, a good test nevertheless.
Omri versus Gay: Will Good Omri show up this game?
Paul vs the Temptation to play Some Messed-Up Lineup: Some restraint, please coach.
Donte versus the Bench: We miss you, buddy.

I believe we bounce back and deliver. Win win win. Keep getting better. When we face the a-holes down south again, we will be better and we will win.

PS: After one loss, it would appear that the sky is falling.

Fellow Arco faithful, please be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Sanest Post of the Night:
I just read through some of this thread, and judging by a few of the comments, I'm hoping alcohol played a factor in not thinking clearly.

This team won the last 2 titles, and has been to the last 3 nba finals. Let's remember who our opponent was. This is exactly what the process is all about. These games are what this team needs. Tyreke was in foul trouble and it killed us, but he learned tonight. Cousins was in foul trouble as expected, but took it right at gasol successfuly a few times, and learned tonight. Omri struggled to get anything going, but he learned.

All this Westphal sucks and players need to go talk is absolutely rediculous. These are the world champs. It's game 5. They're clicking on all cylinders. This is what has to happen and is supposed to happen to young teams hoping to rise. Next time we face them we'll be a little better. And the following time a little better than the previous. This is how young teams learn.

Let's try keeping things in perspective before trading the entire team and firing the coach because we lost to the defending champs in game 5. And the idiot who said Tyreke sucks should be banned.

Zach Randolph should be back for the Grizzlies. This should be a very competitive game. Randolph, Gay and Conley aren't bad...

The only thing Tyreke sucks at is rolled ankles. I remember someone mentioning that the more you roll your ankle, the less painful it is. But it is a double edged sword because the more you roll it the more likely you are to turn it in the future. Tyreke has made no secret about his basketball career long ankle problems.

But he is a warrior, a competitor, and really the only thing that sidelines him is Turkish elbows to the face. The guy that said be sucks is just trying to get a rise out of us, and we are giving him what he wants. That guy doesn't even bring anything to the table here, we might as well just block him.

Some people get rubber ankles the more they roll them, others just keep spraining it worse every time.

This is one of the most important games of Donte Greene's career.

Luther Head and Antione Wright are out. He has to see playing time tonight... right??

If he plays well tonight, he's back in the rotation ( the one thing semi consistent about Westphal is that he plays guys who play well, if Donte Greene plays well tonight he should see time next game and so on .. ) Greene is right on the edge right now. He's basically the 12th man on this roster .. If he moves down the depth chart anymore he'd be inactive. Big Big game for him. I hope he plays well, because when he does he is far better than anything Head or Wright can offer off the bench.

They're comming off an amazing 2 overtime loss against the Suns and this is a home game after a long rest for us, so I expect a win here.

We should be able to win this one. I like Dalembert on Gasol, maybe he won't kill us like he usually does. Tyreke most likely will be on Mayo, so Mayo will go off. Casspi on Gay can go either way. Zach will probably gobble up rebounds since Carl is guarding him. Conley will get his as well, he has improved a lot. Should be a high scoring game with not a lot of defense going on, I hope to see Big Cuz contribue off the bench and give us 10 atleast.

Their two star bigs aren't exactly known for their physical fitness either. We could be able to run circles around them inside.

Coach Paul chatting with G-Man just said Omri will start on Grizz Rudy Gay and later he might have JT or Donte (that's right he said "Donte") on him to try to keep the high scorer in check.

Which really begs to question why he didn't try that on the Lakers high scorer.

Grizz are playing their fourth game in five nights, all on the road, and double overtime last night. If we don't run them out of the gym, I'll be disappointed.
