I have been a fan of this team for way too long to let a loss like this really bother me and I don't give a rat's patoot about what the national media has to say. The whole game was all about Shaq anyway...Marv and Doug were practically slobbering over themselves about him.
I can live with a loss like this. I'm not happy about it, but I can accept it. I didn't think the Kings would go 82-0. I didn't think the Kings would go 60-22. We are going to lose some games.
I hate Shaquille O'Neal but he is still the most dominant player in the game today. With Miller in there, we at least had a bit of a chance because they would have traded fouls and we might have gotten lucky and gotten Shaq to foul out first. With MIller in the locker room, however, we had a horrible second quarter. They came back with some spirit in the second half, only to lose Doug.
It just wasn't in the cards, although the bitter part of me would like to say it was in the officials' script. (I wouldn't mean it, though.)
We did not lose to an inferior team. We fought hard against a worthy opponent and ended up losing by two. Not what I wanted but, again, I'll live with it.
Blowing the leads is going to eat at me for a while, though, and I'm sure it's something the guys are going to be quietly discussing among themselves.
