Hmmm. I guess I can't blame the reporters. They aren't asking anything 'out of line' .. I think those sort of questions are fair game. That being said, Malone doesn't have to answer them, and I think in most of these cases it would be better if he didn't. I'm sure word gets back to White, who now thinks he's going to get an opportunity, and then he doesn't. It's just .. I don't know. Not the best way to treat the players. Malone is oddly specific in his answers, and then does the opposite. Strange. He doesn't need to be that specific.
He's entitled to change his mind. I do believe in that. But The amount of times' he's done that is piling up now. I forgot one - He also said about a million times that he wanted to keep one of Gay and Cousins on the court at the same time. That is finally happening a little bit now, bit it took him a while to do it.
Belichick does it for competitive advantage. Word gets back to the other team that he might do something, it ends up being a complete lie, etc. This COULD be Malones approach, but something like Royce Whites playing time is so trivial to the outcome of a game.
I don't have a hard stance on this one way or the other, I just find it weird. Malone hasn't been here that long. I'm still trying to figure him out.
Really disappointing White didn't get any action. While I understand he may not be ready practice wise, there's literally not a better situation for him to get minutes on the floor. Up 30, at home, against the worst team in the NBA. Would love if someone can transcribe Malone's post-game for us.

Maybe the reason we beat the Bucks so easily is that they were gearing up to stop White.
Malone primarily focused on the second half. He is NOT happy about allowing the Bucks to score pretty much at will after we locked them down in the first half. He focused on that, and actually said he didn't want to be a Debbie Downer after a win, but that we cannot expect to win if we're gonna collapse on defense. I didn't record the post-game for some reason (stupid DVR) so I might have missed it, but I don't think he said anything about White one way or the other. He did not look very happy and seemed to want to get done with the presser ASAP.
All the proof you need that the Kings are not tanking, right there... Malone says they want to develop the young talent; sees the lead shrink to twenty, and says, "**** the young talent!"
And, just like when I watch Cousins do it, I find that possession to be oddly disturbing. Centers just do not look right dribbling the ball down the court.
On a losing team, it's virtually unprecedented that the coach and the GM/Front Office are on the same page. D'Alessandro can afford to take the long view: Malone can't. A general manager gets to keep his job throughout an entire rebuild, and see how the whole thing plays out; coaches get ****canned. And, if you don't believe me, ask PJ Carlesimo.

Those are all examples of straight line runouts finished with layups. He's not beating anybody who's willing to get in the way. Certainly not changing direction or PGing.
And Noah may well be the second best center at that sort of play, but the thing is he looks like a center watching the ball to make sure he doesn't drop it. Which is fine. You don't expect to get that play out of your center. But when you've got one capable fo dribbling between PG legs and beating guys with crossovers and behind the back dribbles...well not only do you have something unprecedented today, that's basically unprecedented ever for a player that size.
