"Kings trying to lure AK from Russia" Jones Tweet

Saw this on twitter

"Word I got tonight on AK is he was asking for a 4 year 35 million dollar deal. Sacramento was in the range of 8 million a year about 21 minutes ago"

Good to hear! Still negotiating, and sounding like willing to bump up the price.

That is great news. If they end up signing Hayes, Thornton, Crawford, and AK, that will exceed any expectations I had.

Doubt the Nets want a long term contract. The Nets, along with Dallas want space for next year.

C'mon GP...bump it up to 4yr/33.5 mill with a team option for the 4th year and see if he bites

Assuming the Kings sign Crawford and AK, wouldn’t that make them one of the deepest teams in the league?

Cousins
Evans
AK
Salmons
Crawford
Hickson
Hayes
Thornton
Jimmer
Thompson
Greene

That's a lot of depth!

Somehow I have a feeling AK won't fall for a fourth year team option.

$8 million this year is as much as AK could make if the Kings were to also resign Dalembert at $8 million. (made possible by an amnestied Garcia.) So there's a sign that Dalembert + AK might be on Petrie's mind!

Won't fall for what? And I don't think we'll be seeing Dalembert back if the sign Crawford and AK.

I fixed it. I meant he wouldn't fall for a fourth year team option. the dalembert + AK idea excludes Crawford. I think he will sign with Portland.

4 years is too long. I want AK on this team but we might need the money when it's time to resign tyreke & cousins

I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too much, but I'm actually very excited about this.

If we are talking about a deal lasting 3-4 years, then I think we have the edge, as other teams are trying to keep their salary down for free-agency next year.
So I'm thinking that perhaps we've mostly landed him, we're still just negotiating on the price. Let's face it, if we're willing to pay Crawford for 6.5 million, then surely we'll be willing to work something out with AK.

The other reason I'm excited is because Dalembert hasn't signed yet. I still think we might be in play for him, even though all signs seem to point that we're going with Hayes all the way at Center.

On one note, Dallas just traded Rudy Fernandez, who was acquired on draft day from Portland, to Denver for draft picks. Does this mean that since we acquired Salmons on draft day too, through the Jimmer trade, we can still trade him if ever we land Kirilenko right? If this is so, then I don't see the possible logjam if ever Kirilenko goes to the Kings. Kings should just trade either Salmons or Garcia. Teams like Clippers could use either.

I wish people would stop dreaming up scenarios! There has been nothing but an absolute praise coming out of the Kings regarding Salmons. Just because people don't like him and want him gone does not mean that those in charge feel the same. In fact they are high on Salmons. They targeted him in a trade and were willing to take on more salary in the process of getting him.

Salmons won't get traded at least until the trade deadline. At the very least! He will not be amnestied either! He is here to stay for a little while at least and won't be traded before he plays a game for us. I think Kings want to stack their roster with depth to make the push for the play offs then might consider trading some of the players like Salmons and Garcia at the end of next year to clear up some cap room to re-sign Hickson and/or Thompson.

With many holes to fill before a season opener just 11 days away, the Nets are looking to sign Andrei Kirilenko as the starting small forward, a league source told The News. Kirilenko, 30, is one of only two Russians in the NBA and has long been linked to the Nets because of owner Mikhail Prokhorov , who is running in Russia’s presidential election.

C'mon AK! Come to Sacto!

Adrian Wojnarowski: As @Frank Isola reports, Shawne Williams agrees to Nets offer. Now, Nets trying to close deal with free agent Andrei Kirilenko, sources say. Twitter

Crap!!!

Prokhorov to AK : Plus when I become President you will get a statue in Stalin Square, all your relatives in Russia will get upgraded Government housing, and I will drop by your house in Jersey and shovel your driveway and mow your yard in the summer!!

Damm how do we compete with that !!

As noted by @wojyahoonba, the Nets are pushing for small forward Andrei Kirilenko but Sacramento still in that mix too.
Kirilenko playing for CSKA Moscow and isn't necessarily looking to leave. If he does, eventual price tag could be approx $9 mil/yr for 3 yrs
To me, it still looks like AK is our first choice, with Crawford as our plan B, Dally possible plan C?

Honestly though, the Nets have to have the upper hand here. They have that Russian owner connection, and are much less talented at the 3 then we are. I have a hard time seeing AK choose us over them.

Which is fine with me so long as we turn out attention back to Dalembert, who I would take over AK for 9 mil a year if given the chance.
