Never mind. The person who posted the note with the info that the Maloofs might be pursuing Sloan was a guy named rainmaker.
Glenn, I swear, I'm not trying to stir things up, lol.
Amick wrote the story about the interest from the Maloofs, and Voison said a day earlier that Sloan wasn't done coaching, was intrigued by our talent, and preferred small cities.
Now, in the Amick article he said the Maloofs are known to be big fans of Sloan. He did not interview them for the story however, so the idea the Maloofs are publicly courting Sloan is a bit of a stretch imo. They haven't commented from what I've heard. Now, I did get the impression from the article Amick either talked to Sloans wife, or someone close to them.
In his article he mentioned, backing up what Voison had said a day earlier, that Sloan is intrigued by our talent. Also said Sloans wife is not against the idea of moving to Sac.
What I've also seen, and have not mentioned, is a tweet I saw the day Westy was fired, which said the Maloofs had talked to Sloan this past summer, and had thought about replacing Westy back then.
In piecing it all together, this is what I believe.
The Maloofs inquired about Sloan this summer, and both Voison and Amick new about it. Seems there might have been interest on both sides, but who knows how much, and if it was just Sloan wanting to stay away from the league for a full season.
But I do believe there has been talk between the two, at a previous point, and that's why two separate writers are reporting the intrigue in the roster and preferring a small city. Maybe Amick followed up with Sloans wife. But I do not believe the Maloofs are going about this publicly, or have commented publicly. That would be Voison and Amick.
I also think they sincerely will give Smart a shot, as they should, but they know, as well as everyone else, that if you get a shot at a hall of fame coach you take it.
