"Kings trying to lure AK from Russia" Jones Tweet

Before hiring Sloan, let's see how the Keith Smart era works out for us. So far I've been liking what I'm seeing (bizarro small-ball line-ups aside)
Well I highly doubt we'd hire Sloan before the season ended. Why would we do that?

We'll know how Smart has done after the year. Smarts contract isn't guaranteed next year anyway. Don't know what your point is. Wouldn't hire Sloan until this season has ended, and the FO/Maloofs have reviewed Smarts performance anyway.

I kind of started this mess so let's calm down. I thought Sam Amick tweeted that the Maloofs were pursuing Sloan. If no one can confirm that, I will look through past notes to find what I am looking for. In the meantime give me a break and believe that I read that the Maloofs were pursuing Sloan.

Why would they do that when they have Smart under contract? Smart has almost no chance of putting a well oiled machine on the floor because of the short season, etc., etc. It's like he is already assumed to be a failure and given the situation he has been dumped into, he has little chance of success in the way we might normally classify it.

I am personally more than pleased with Smart so far.

This lack of info control from our ownership had a lot to do with why Adelman would never consider coaching this team again. They pursued Phil Jackson while Adelman was already the coach.

Why would we publicly pursue Sloan with Smart under contract? I think this is the stupidity of our owners rearing its ugly head again. If Smart actually installs any kind of offense, like the inside out offense, it will be quite an achievement. I am happy we have Bobby Jackson as an assistent coach as if Smart needs info about the specific skills of each team member, Bobby has the info.

The humerous post about AK having a favorite coach was simply that: it was meant to be humerous. However, it might be close enough to the truth as the duo in question (Sloan and AK) might be the off season effort that the Maloofs might be planning - all too publicly.

Bottom line: it isn't any poster on KF pushing for Sloan. It is the Maloofs. Go ask them why they are doing that.

Never mind. The person who posted the note with the info that the Maloofs might be pursuing Sloan was a guy named rainmaker.
Glenn, I swear, I'm not trying to stir things up, lol.

Amick wrote the story about the interest from the Maloofs, and Voison said a day earlier that Sloan wasn't done coaching, was intrigued by our talent, and preferred small cities.

Now, in the Amick article he said the Maloofs are known to be big fans of Sloan. He did not interview them for the story however, so the idea the Maloofs are publicly courting Sloan is a bit of a stretch imo. They haven't commented from what I've heard. Now, I did get the impression from the article Amick either talked to Sloans wife, or someone close to them.

In his article he mentioned, backing up what Voison had said a day earlier, that Sloan is intrigued by our talent. Also said Sloans wife is not against the idea of moving to Sac.

What I've also seen, and have not mentioned, is a tweet I saw the day Westy was fired, which said the Maloofs had talked to Sloan this past summer, and had thought about replacing Westy back then.

In piecing it all together, this is what I believe.

The Maloofs inquired about Sloan this summer, and both Voison and Amick new about it. Seems there might have been interest on both sides, but who knows how much, and if it was just Sloan wanting to stay away from the league for a full season.

But I do believe there has been talk between the two, at a previous point, and that's why two separate writers are reporting the intrigue in the roster and preferring a small city. Maybe Amick followed up with Sloans wife. But I do not believe the Maloofs are going about this publicly, or have commented publicly. That would be Voison and Amick.

I also think they sincerely will give Smart a shot, as they should, but they know, as well as everyone else, that if you get a shot at a hall of fame coach you take it.

I assumed apparently wrongly that the only reason that Amick and Voison would write about Sloan is because they knew the Maloofs were interested. Otherwise it's a non-story to me.

As to Smart, he just may turn out to be that guy they have been looking for the last 5 years - an inexpensive yet very good coach at the beginning of a good career.

I think they are interested, but put it on hold during the season, and will revisit it based upon how Smart does. Hey, I hope things work out for Smart. Like what I've seen for the most part.

I take it as a positive. Maloofs are considering splashing the money for a HOF coach, but at the same time are staying quiet and letting Smart do his job during the season.
