Other than fansided I have not seen it reported online as of yet. Rick Bonnell from the Charlotte Observor tweeted earlier in the week that Charlotte would be active specifcally looking for front court help defensively. Marvin Williams wasn't with the team earlier in the week.

The front office is pushing hard in search of a stretch four, although Williams has not shot the ball well this season, they like his shooting ability and his versatility is intriguing.

If that's true, then our FO is going in the wrong direction. We need defense. We need a shot blocker. We need size. We want smashmouth. We want something that will win in the playoffs when the calls tighten and the defense tightens.

While I acknowledge the desire to change the style of our PF (one in which I don't agree), in no way is Williams an upgrade over Thompson.

No.
Way.
A stretch 4 that can't really shoot? Come on now. I'd rather make no move.

Yup. I think he'd be worth a lot more to this time, than what it looks like on "paper"

We've seen his name thrown out quite often as far as trade targets for Sacramento, this is one that I would absolutely support .

Plug him into the lineup and I'll bet it's almost instant chemistry between him, Darren, Rudy, and the monster

There's no question about it.

SacTown Royalty had an article about 2 days ago I believe about the Kings eyeing a reunion between he and George Karl. His tenacious defense and ability to knock down shots would be a tremendous addition to this team. Between he and Collison, I like the idea of having a defensive backcourt. I am hoping that we can get it done.

He isn't close to the defender he used to be. He's older and a possible FA this offseason. We better be damn sure he's sticking here at a cost we can handle before wasting an asset on him.

Afflalo has declined this year, and while he'd be a solid addition, I think now it's at the point where people are actually vastly over-rating how much he'd improve us.
Our backcourt is beyond terrible. Everyone believes that PF is our biggest problem, but that's not the case at all. We have Collison who is a at the very most, a borderline starter who would be best as a backup. He struggles when he's forced to be a 2nd option..Then we have a young inconsistent SG in Ben. At this point, he's an inconsistent 3&D guy who should honestly not be starting because of his inconsistencies. Then for backup PG, we have Sessions who's playing the worst season of his career. Dude doesn't even deserve to see PT at this point. And at backup SG, we have another young rookie who provides at best, floor spacing.

Whether Affalo starts or comes off the bench, he'd be a HUGE upgrade for our horrid backcourt. He's a proven scorer who had an 18ppg season last year in a bigger role. If we have him, we no longer have to pull the bench out after 3mins in because they let the lead go to 10. Affalo could be the difference maker this team needs. Not to mention his perimeter shooting the Kings desperately lack

The most I could see the FO offering for Affalo would be Ray+D-Will...lol

I love this analysis. The impact his acquisition could have on Ben McLemore is very intriguing indeed.

Absolutely. Anybody can post a note like you post and it is only a personal thought. I covered for your first unreferenced idea by finding a link that referenced at least part of the idea concerning Jackson. Now you need to do it, GQ.

Who is "we?" There is an Ignore function on this forum and when it begins to look like a person is just slinging crap, I use it.

If the "front office" thinks 6.6pts 4.6reb on .423 shooting from a 6'9" weenie who can't defend his position (if you play him out of position at PF) and hits all of one 3ptr a game is the answer at PF, then those morons are even more ridiculously inept then I have given then credit for.

If on the other hand they were looking at multiple moves, and hoped to in the end trade DWill for something, and then have Marvin take DWill's 3/4 spot off the bench, then I agree its a better fit.

I hope Karl is being consulted on all this nonsense.
Karl will be fired for saying no to all the bull crap players they are looking at. The same way malone said no to Smith and Royce ****ing white. Seriously I had to take an Advil when I logged on and saw names like marvin williams and reggie Jackson. The same jackson who Ibaka/Perkins refused to pass it to early in the season cause he is selfish. Don't even get me started on marvin williams.

wow some of these players the Kings are interested in are awful fits....Reggie stated numerous times he wants to start, so he won't be a happy camper coming here, plus he is a chuck master, pass. Marvin Williams for JT? why not offer Landry instead? I hope to god that isn't true....

While Reggie himself sufferes from Isaiah Thomas syndrome and as such might not work, this team is absolutely desperate for some firepower off the bench.

We desperately need someone who can consistently give us 10-15 points off the bench. Given this major need, I am not surprised that players like Jackson are on the radar.

Our starting 5 is OK but our hench is terrible. So often we loose our way either losing the lead or getting blow. Out when the bench is in the game. Our starters when focused can match it with anyone.

Nope. Beauty of a $15mil contract and an owner who recently lost his main business -- you're nearly uinfireable. Even moreso because of the recent debacle.

On the other hand since he said he would stay in his lane he's probably going to have to get burned a few time by dumbass moves before he begins to assert himself more vigoorously.

By using "we" I intended to speak on behalf of everyone here, I assumed most of the members of this forum had at least heard or read about "x" players names being on the Kings' radar. I may be wrong. Apologies.

Is Marvin Williams really any better than Casspi as a stretch 4 or SF? My sources say no, he is not. I'd find it hard to believe we are interested in a JT/M Williams centered deal.

I'm thinking Karl will speak his mind. Since he is the older, wiser Basketball mind he should be listened to.

On the Topic I see it this way. Kings keep the starting five intact and add three impact players to come off the bench. These will be former starters who are in their thirties, fringe specialists and in a couple of cases guys with known issues. Sometimes that is as good as it gets. Number one below needs to be able to come off the bench and score in bunches. 2 needs to come in and get after the other teams scorer or play maker. Number three falls into two types. One type guards the rims and blocks shots. The other gets under peoples skin and makes the game hard for them.

You add these guys without giving up too much and then in the off season evaluate where the team was at the seasons end and make changes.

Three types of players I would like to see the Kings add would be:
1) A scorer off the bench - Reggie Jackson fits that. Perhaps Jose Calderon, Kevin Martin would be sweet, tell him he will be Sacto's Jamal Crawford.
2) A good wing defender - Aaron Affalo fits in here. Luc Mbah a Moute is still in Philly.
3) A defensive Big - Larry Sanders, Javale McGee, Cole Aldrich, Tyler Hansbrough, Miles or Mason Plumlee, Bismark Biyombo, guys like that.

Just another note. Teams are pulling guys in and seeing what they can do. We all know about Hassan Whiteside. Now they have Toney Douglas on a second 10 day.....Are you watching other GM's work here Pete?????

There are some guys we could pull in that would be well worth a look. Quincy was worth a look and maybe even keep ...I just don't think he's a good enough shooter from 3. There are guards we should be looking at and pulling in right now. Maybe after a trade is made and they clear a roster spot. But yeah agreed, Pat Riley beat every one to the punch on Whiteside.....and who could have seen this coming unless your doing your homework and actually pull a guy in.
