For what it’s worth Cardwell also had a grey jersey so I’m not sure these are particularly indicative of the depth chart at this particular moment in time and more just how guys were split up for drills.
Liking that they’re already running pick and roll with Malik and Maxime. Given Max’s ability to shoot from the perimeter, this probably gives Malik the most space to work with getting to the rim he’s had since Mike Brown thankfully decided to use Trey at the 5 dunking the Warriors series.
Hopefully this isn't another tired preseason. I guess it will test their conditioning early but you know if the Kings have a rough preseason fans are going to full on riot, haha.
I know he's been the popular to name to trade, but damn do I want Malik here long-term. Dude is just such a fun guy to root for and I think he's really embraced this team and community.
Also thought his description of the 1 vs 2 was real real interesting. That being a 1 at the NBA level has to be your "whole identity" and you have to lead the team on both ends of the floor. And the 2 you just "get to go play basketball"
I obviously think he's an incredibly dedicated professional, but if I were to prescribe what category Malik would be in, it'd be the 2. Go get to play basketball, bring the energy, bring the fun and spark the team.
