Damn i dont wanna get too hyped but the Mavs and Grizzlies look like they're the two teams falling out of the Playoff picture from last year (Mavs 0-5, Grizzlies 3-4). Jazz likely to be in the Playoffs but no other team is for sure taking the last spot. Theres a good chance for us this year, likely to compete with Denver and probably the Grizzlies.

In my case, it's not a matter of underestimating them, so much as it is that I watch them play all the time. And I thought that they've gotten worse enough, and we've gotten better enough, that would could have stolen one. I turned out to be wrong.

I mean, they're 4-2 and still carrying the 2nd best DRTG in the NBA. That was a tough game in a place that has been very tough for us to win in no matter how good the opponent.

Im tired of everyone blaming Cousins for the team's woes.

Clearly it's actually Cauley-Stein'S fault. First game he doesn't play and boom - losing streak snapped.

Seriously though, Trill seems to have worked his way into Joerger's doghouse a bit. That's what drifting during games and only grabbing a rebound every 18 minutes of floor time will get you. Hope the young fella gets it together.

Hopefully if that is the case, it lights a fire under WCS and he wakes the hell up. Put in the work in the gym and the film room, and show us you were the right pick.

A .375 winning percentage is probably on the money for season predictions in our 10% sample-size unfortunately. -- "So you're saying there's a chance" :)

Kings fans have only two gears:

1) Playoffs
2) Suicide

So what changed this game? Idk how we get worked by 3 inferior teams to Toronto but come out with dub here

I've asked myself the same thing. Why are our guys able to stay in front of their man and get hands up on shooters tonight when they couldnt do it yesterday? Why are we suddenly more careful with the ball?

I noticed a small difference in our offense tonight that made a big difference; we were rotating the ball and there was movement away from the ball. Who would have thought?! Im still pretty pissed tha we went 0-3 vs miami, orlando, and milwaukee. Thank goodness we pulled this win out.

"Why" is a good question. I think if coaches and fans could predict each game we wouldn't have to play them. More seriously, perhaps having a veteran team helped. There was no panic. They just came out and played hard. Perhaps Ben and WCS were kept out of the game as neither was a vet. Fortunately it worked just fine. I was surprised that we had the energy.

What a difference Rudy makes, I hope the casual kings fans on twitter/facebook finally appriciate his talent and stop with the hes trash or trade him crap everytime he has a bad game, he is legit and we saw what happend last night without him.

Regardless of weather or not he has a future here he is legit!

This is a great start to our crucial plan of having a good start so we can build off of this group, if they win, even a little, that may be enough to put off a full blown rebuild.

Meanwhile, a night after beating us like a drum, the Bucks are struggling against a winless, Dirk-less Mavericks team. #Sports

Yeah, nothing going right for us tonight except our own win. I would just like to direct a message to all the wussyass Eastern Conference teams who decide that NOW its time to weak sister and Leastern Confernce and roll over for the West teams tonight: PLUCK YOU. Get your acts together.

Nice win, salvaged something from this disastrous road trip. Tuesday against the Pelicans is must win IMO. They are terrible, and after that we've got the Lakers (who look a lot better than us) and then a tough 4 game stretch against some of the better teams in the NBA. I could see us going 1-5, and we all know how well these guys handle adversity:rolleyes:.

The Lakers do not look a lot better than us

and the season just started

Being objective here...I hate the Lakers, but right now and into the future they look better. Better young players/assets, better record, more impressive wins...I don't know how you can rate us higher at the moment.

Alternatively just rant to the media how you can guard 5 positions and deserve to play

Can't compare the teams without context. The Lakers have a couple nice wins and they look to be improved. But their schedule has been more manageable than the Kings.

The lakers went 1-3 on their road trip . Only one back to back . They have played an even schedule with home games and days off.

Let's see how the Kings do with a rough but more reasonable schedule the next few weeks . It's a long season and they get their starting pg back .

He has many skills and he is convinced that offense will be one of them. I suspect he knows the big checks go to those who have an offensive game. I think he can have an offensive game but in 4-5 years not that I can set a specific time. He has good form on a short jumper which sets him apart from Koufos who has been blessed with the oddest shot from any distance yet is valuable despite what SLAB says. ;) He has value even next to Cuz. (rubbing it in ) He has to wise up to what is wanted of him now and how he can adapt his skills to what is needed AND bust his ass at it. Using the fancy analytic of the PER he was an average NBA player last year at about 15. That's remarkable for a rookie and may have gone to his head that this NBA s*** is easy. It isn't as I believe his PER dipped bellow 3 early on this year. This is a score a one armed ball boy could score.

I suspect no one or at least a few know my evaluation of his skills and they probably match bajaden's evaluation reasonably close. At this second, he is unique. There never has been a 7 footer with straight ahead speed and lateral quickness like Willie. There is also no 7 footer who can't rebound and despite his vaunted ability to guard 4-5 positions, not really be able to do that at the NBA level. He CAN use that skill to defend the pick and roll. He had a good situation last year with Rondo and I suspect Collison will be better for him because they know each other.

It will take awhile for Yoeger to get around to the Willie problem. He has bigger problems right now or at least up to yesterday. Yoeger needed a win. I think WCS will get more pine time ( or is it "lounger time" at the new arena) than he expected right off the bat but he can use that time to study how he can fit in. He has the analytic intellect (as opposed to BBIQ) to do that. Then he can display what he has learned.

Don't trade him. Analytics make him presently next to worthless. We would need to throw him away for nothing. I would bet that much like McBen, he will begin to blossom in a few years. Unlike McBen, he is 7 ft tall which has an inherent value. Patience. He may bomb out but he also may become a very special player.

To be objective would be to acknowledge the most difficult schedule in the league through the first 8 games. Its like someone sits in a back room with an evil grin on their face and plots the Kings schedule.

Yeah, I tend to agree with your analysis. I mean my god, Willie is just starting his second year, but there's no doubt that he seems to be somewhat lost offensively at times. Not sure it's all his fault. How many people noticed in the Bucks game, that Willie never touched the ball on offense one time; let me repeat, not one time, in the first half. There were many times he rolled to the basket on a pick and roll, or he set up in the high, or low post, but was ignored by his teammates. When your teammates ignore you, it usually means they don't trust you with the ball.

Obviously there's some things that have to be worked out if Willie is going to contribute this year. If not, then I'd rather see him in Reno where he can get playing time. But it's way to early to make any kind of judgement on what his long term potential is. As I stated in another thread, Kentucky played in a dribble drive offense, and Karl used the exact same offense. So Willie came to the Kings already knowing the offense. Now he has to learn a new offense, and new defensive schemes. I think Willie tends to be a bit too cerebral at times and it causes him think instead of act. You can't be thinking while your playing. You should just react. McLemore is starting to do just that this year. Willie isn't there yet, but give him some time.

Someone once asked Michael Jordan how he thought of how to do all the things he did while in the air. He said he didn't think, he just did.

I just took a stroll through the raps board and I gotta say those guys act as if they're the 90's Bulls and the fact that it was even a tough game for them is cause for concern.
