Could somebody just say they don't know where the hell he is going, lol. There is at least a billion experts saying he is going there or there but i don't even think they really do know. Next thing they say is that everybody is still in the race.

She puts the info out, choose to believe it or not. Things do change quickly so her source(a credible one) may hear one thing and next minute the deal could be back alive. That is not VF's fault. I would say majority of the time its been a pretty solid source and those of us that have been here for a while actually know that. I agree with PIK'S VF why even respond.. Let us grunts do it for you.

On a side note, thanks for the info VF, Haven't posted in a while, just working out some issues here at home. I may be one of the few that am glad at this point this is not going to happen. Thats a discussion for the other AI thread tho.

Not only did Grant say that the Kings were never in it for AI, he also said that GP never spoke to Billy King and his explanation why Joe Maloof said that the Kings were in the mix was to get others off his back and stop asking whether or not they were going after him, which makes absolutely zero sense, but that is what he said. He said that he spoke to several people in the Kings front office today and they all confirmed to him that they were never in it for AI.

Anyway, the key to those denver/Indiana deals would appear to be the thing we were't willing to part wiht -- the promising young player. Granger, and now unexpectedly JR Smith. Thought from the beginnign that Kevin would be the logical target for the Sixers, adn every deal they have seemed to be considering has always involved some young kid with big upside. Absolutely right approach for the Sixers, but somebody is going to have to bite their lip and go for it form the other side.

I think that they will take Indiana's garbage because it is basically good garbage. If ind is willing to give up their future in Granger and or s.williams, a pick, foster (an expiring contract), and Tinsley for Iverson and filer that would be a great deal for Philiy in my opinion

If in fact the deal didn't go through because we weren't willing to part with Kevin I think is a possible indication that we are headed towards a major rebuild. At least I hope.

Why wonder about the credibility of Bucher or Napear? For now, what we have is a direct quote from Joe Maloof that the Kings are not pursuing AI. He never commented on whether they had or hadn't pursued AI.

All that matters as of today, is the direct quote from Joe, that was reported on Bloomberg and repeated on KHTK. Could that change tomorrow? Maybe. But right now, if I'm going to listen to anyone, it will be one of the owners of the Kings.

i dont know if anybody has brought it up yet but i wonder if there is a chance that a deal might have gone down but wanted to wait until after tonite so bibby would be able to play tonights game worry free. or maybe the maloofs decided it would be better to stop gushing about iverson when a reporter called. remember when artest said he wasnt going to play in sac? the next day, it was on. im not ready to give out on this quite yet.

All Joe Maloof ever said was "..... Kings are in the mix for AI" nowhere was it said they were talking about trading FOR AI only that they were "in the mix". To me thats vastly different. In the mix can be part of a 3-team multi-player deal in which AI goes to the Warriors and Baron or such come to Kings (only my wild speculation, not based on any facts for sure).

So for Maloof's to say we were not going to trade for AI (as reported in so many words by Grant) can be completely true. I could never in a million years see AI in Sacramento other than to visit for a game or two a year. But the pieces that may need to move around and thru Sac Town for AI to end up somewhere, thats a different story.

AI doesn't fit in GP's vision of basketball... That whole team play and unselfishness thing he thinks thats essential. Im sure there was very prelimenary talks but nothing was EVER serious.

Oh yeah and Indiana's 2007 first round pick belongs to Atlanta from the Joe Johnson trade. So basically their offer would be Tinsley, Jacko, Foster, and Shawne Williams. Sounds like crap to me.

I did not want this trade to happen. It appears that I am in the minority with that opinion, but I am still glad that it seems dead. I am NOT against trading any player, but I just did not see AI being happy here. Nor did I believe that the others players on our team would benefit from it.

The general mood does seem to be of depression, but I too didn't think getting Iverson was a very good idea. His history is too sketchy, and we already have one such guy in the locker room. Iverson has feuded with all his coaches, and Muss would be a light weight for him (add Artest to the mix, and Muss just might throw up his hands and quit too).

Is he better than Bibby? Sure. If we could also offload KT, does that help. Sure it does. Despite this, following needs to be remembered
1. Apart from the year when they went to the finals (I know that's a big apart), Iverson hasn't won much. Recently, Philly has missed the playoffs, and with or without Iverson, would have missed it this year too (even in the East).
2. He has not existed with other stars (nor has Artest). This would have gotten ugly soon.
3. Young guys have rarely propered in his shadow. Don't know if they were not good enough to begin with, or the culture of the organization is more to blame than AI. That's a big question though, with us grooming some young guys to play bigger roles in future.
4. Doesn't help our cap. Per hoopshype, Bibby and KT shall make a combined 21M next year, while AI shall make about 20. Plus, we shall need to sign another "big" guy to shore up our already woefully thin front court. On other other hand, if Bibby opts out next year (will the current events prompt him to?), we might have some good cap for a major signing (we shall need a PG of course).
5. We shall remain mediocre. West is too tough. With Iverson, or with Bibby and KT, we might make the playoffs as 7-8th seed, or miss it. We are not going to be contenders either way.

The best option might be to trade Bibby and or some other guys (Reef has a smallish contract and is a good low post scorer, something a lot of teams could use; Chicago for example) for future picks. This shall allow us to stink bad this year, and hopefully land a high pick, while at the same time, clearing up space for a major signing. Easier said than done though.
