They are either going to bright, aggressive and saavy, somehow getting everything they wanted despite dealing form a position of weakness. Or they are going to be shortsighted gamblers over concerned with making a splash, and under informed and under concerned with the implications of that splash.
That is the clear worry. Did they just gamble away the upside and talent of a 23 yr old who's one of the most efficient SG's in this league and has the potential to be one of the elite two way players in this league, which he's not far from at this point, in order to make a quick splash on an aging, near 30 role player who does little on the offensive end to help win games?
And how about two years from now when Reke is 25 and likely closing in on being a top 5 SG if not already there and really coming into his own, still a year or two from entering his prime while Iggy is putting up 10/5/5 as a 32 yr old while on a near max salary?
This trade might look ok for a year to some, but most likely looks worse and worse each coming season and at a certain point I see all Kings fans pretty much asking WTF were we doing offering Iggy 14M per a few years ago.
Here's a comparison. Last season:
Player A) 12.4 pts .507FG% 5.7 rebs 2.8 asts 1.5 stls 17.67PER
Player B) 13.0 pts .451FG% 5.3 rebs 5.4 asts 1.7stls 15.27PER
One of these players made 9.8M last year, the other we just offered a 4/56M contract. Both are top role players, both play SF. See that much of a difference in production?
Player A is AK47, available right now, player B is Iggy.
