[Game] Kings @ Magic, 11/3/16 - 4 PM PDT/ 7 PM EDT

If Lawson is closing out games, Gay & Cousins need another shooter out on the floor who can consistently hit from 3 (Tolliver/Casspi). Afflalo can't be the only one. It's too easy to defend us while only having one guy to try and space the floor. Tolliver's size, length, defense, & ball security are all better than Casspi's . Although Tolliver's individual rebounding numbers aren't too impressive, the Pistons collected 1.9 more defensive rebounds when he was on the floor vs. when he was off last year. Tolliver is good at boxing his man out and giving his team a good shot at collecting the board (even if it's not personally him who gets the rebound). For these reasons, I'd opt for Tolliver over Casspi to close out the games. I'm very curious to why he didn't see any floor time.

Lawson-Afflalo-Gay-Tolliver-Cousins should give us the best chance at closing out games. When Collison comes back, I'd think Collison-Afflalo-Gay-Tolliver/Barnes-Cousins would be optimal. I'm getting tired of seeing Koufos out there with Cousins. So far, we're statistically better when Cousins is on & Koufos is off vs. when Cousins is on & Koufos is on. To be exact, we outscore our opponents by 4.4 more points per 100 possessions when Koufos isn't out there with Cousins. Tolliver should be getting the PF minutes next to Cousins when the other team is playing a "normal" sized PF (considering he's the best option we have to be able to handle a stronger PF while still having the length to contest shots and athleticism to stay with them). When teams have smaller PFs or their bench PFs are in the game, Barnes, Casspi, & Gay seem like a better option & fit going forward (we outscore our opponents by 15.4 points per 100 possessions when either Gay, Barnes, or Casspi plays PF next to Cousins). No more double center lineups. It doesn't pass the eye test, and it doesn't pass the stat test.

We desperately need a athletic PF (Holmes/Portis) and move Cousins back to C where he can actually defend the rim, WCS has been possessed by the demon known as Thornton's ghost which also took possession of Ramon Sessions not to long ago.

Both rebounded better...even at their worst. If there was a Thornton ghost it has been scared away by the haunting of mortal WCS.

He rebounds so bad that he got one rebound tonight and his rebounding average WENT UP!

If it keeps up..his rebound numbers will be the basketball equivalent of the Mendoza line for big men. The Willie line.

When I looked at our first 8 games without Collision, I thought it looked like a side trip through hell. It is. Why are we surprised?
