Kings get #5 pick

Johnson or anybody else we pick at 5 will be better than Casspi or Greene.

Er yeah, because those guys really didn't show anything last year at age 20/21.

Somebody probably will, but everybody always looks great in college.

I am actually glad that WSH got it, not PHI. Ted Leonsis is a great guy and it is a good start for him.

Forgive me if I don't get all happy for a guy walking into this thing and not some team like the Kings that have been constantly kicked to the lottery curb.

Not necessarily. Donte Greene was a high lottery talent (with questions regarding his immaturity, go figure), and Casspi has shown he can be very valuable in the fiery sixth man role (maybe more, time will tell). Neither are busts. Casspi has solid potential, Greene has immense potential. Both have shown that they are at least serviceable NBA role players. We could very well end up with a bust at 5, however. We don't need another small forward, but if it just so happens that a small forward is BPA at #5, so be it.

Wolves... the same team that traded Brandon Roy for Randy Foye on draft night. Also the same team that drafted 2 point guards in a roll last year with #5 & 6.

You forgot to include that they also added Ramon Sessions after the draft to beef up their PG spot even more.

The point is that Kahn isn't exactly Jerry West or even Danny Ainge or Kevin McHale for that matter.

I wouldn´t be surprised seeing Hassan going at #5, if Petrie falls in love with him. He´s not ready to contribute immediately but he could be the best center of his class in 3 or 4 years.

I've thought about that too, but Petrie loves skilled players, especially high in the draft. Whiteside has boatloads of talent, but he's about as raw a product as you can find (as per scouting reports). He's a seven foot center, but only five pounds heavier than our starting point guard...If I had to guess, we take Monroe or Aldrich at number five.

No thanks to Whiteside, he's like a skinnier Thabeet and will take 3-4 years to develop. I could see Petrie picking Motiejunas from Lithuania. 7 footer with some passing skills and outside shot, and we know Petrie is not afraid to look overseas.

Hopefully we'll get a clearer picture when reports come in from workouts.

I agree. Whenever I see Monroe, I see a Petrie big (i.e. good passer and court awareness for a big but also not the most athletic man out there). Honestly Whiteside's body reminds me of Anthony Stickfigure Randolph, which is not a good thing.

Motiejunas is even skinnier than Whiteside :D

Whiteside's frame can put on more bulk. Randolph's? Not so much, narrow hips and shoulders.

Don't know if this was posted but history of the Top 5 picks for the last 10 years: 2009 : Ricky Rubio 2008 : Kevin Love 2007 : Jeff Green 2006 : Shelden Williams 2005 : Raymond Felton 2004 : Devin Harris 2003 : Dwayne Wade 2002 : Nikoloz Tskitishvili 2001 : Jason Richardson 2000 : Mike Miller Other notables: 1995 : Kevin Garnett 1996 : Ray Allen 1998 : Vince Carter 1988 : Mitch Richmond 1987 : Scottie Pippin 1984 : Charles Barkley So it isn't all bad. Let's go Kings!

But it isn't all good either! Most of those years that were "good years" had many many more prospects than what we have this year. We have 4 good prospects, and then a bunch of "meh". A couple players people are talking about are 4 year players, and if they weren't thought of in their first two years to be good prospects I don't really want someone that is older that is in the same boat.

After reading many entries on different boards, not many basketballfans seem to be happy with the results of the draft lottery.

Some Wizzard fans would prefer pick #2 because they think that Turner fits better with Arenas.

The Nets are complaining about getting neither Wall nor Turner.

The T-Wolves Fans don´t want another big.

The Kingsfans need a big but at #5 the best bigs probably will be gone.

The Warriors Fans are unhappy because they want Wesley Johnson and they think that he will be gone at #6.

The only ones who are happy are the Sixers Fans.

It´s kinda funny :D

#5 Draft picks

Jeff Green
Dwayne Wade
Devin Harris

were all # 5 draft picks.....

Maybe their drafts were deeper but let's keep this in perspective. You never know what will happen in the future....

The 6th pick may become rookie of the year. Wh knows? Let's be optimistic. We have a lot of young talent and will be adding another young stud soon enough.

If Johnson is as good a shooter as reported, then maybe we could draft him and move him to 2-guard, which is where we DO have a need in addition to frontcourt help. Then seek frontcourt help elsewhere like free agency or trade. Looked at some of his highlights and he is really athletic.

If we decide to screw BPA and go need, I still really like Aldrich. I like how he fits with this team.

You'd have Aldrich (Strictly Center) Landry (Strictly PF) and JT/Hawes who can play either spots.

Also, if there was any way we could grab Jefferson if the Wolves go with Cousins .. Jefferson and Aldrich would be a pretty good pairing. They might clog up the paint a bit too much .. but I think they could work out.

Might as well draft for need. I don't know that the BPA will help the team much more than drafting for need will at this spot anyway. Crap, couldn't we throw Nocioni to move up to #4?

I don't think Wes Johnson gets enough credit on this board. His numbers really weren't that far off what Turner put up last year, and when watching both I think Johnson was clearly the more athletic of the two while Turner is the better ballhandler. I don't think the gap between the two is nearly as big as people make it out to be, however.

From my perspective, I'm hoping Cousins slips, but if not I think Johnson is the clear choice. Granted, he isn't an amazing ballhandler, but he's capable. The major drawback I hear from people about his game is that he doesn't beat people off the dribble. SO WHAT. I don't know how many Kings games people watched last year, but our perimeter guys had sooo many open looks because teams just straight collapsed on Tyreke. If we take Johnson and he is:

1. A good shooter/finisher
2. A good defender
3. A solid passer who knows how to find spaces when defenses collapse

then I think he can be a big contributer from the outset. Also the things I listed above are what many list as his strengths.

The flipside of the argument really comes back to how much you beleive in Tyreke as a true pointguard. At the beginning of the year I think we all really bought into the fact he NEEDED Beno on the floor to get the offense going, but towards the end of the year it started looking like he could drop 10 assists whenever his teammates would hit open shots. He certainly is a strong enough ballhandler to not need a second point guard type on the floor, and Johnson wouldn't be a disaster as an emergency valve given his strong passing ability. Clearly this ups the logjam at the wings, and a move probly has to be made, but I think you have to take Johnson if he's the last man standing from the top five.

Iknow we need size, and I still would take Counsins first, but I think it's a five player draft not a four player draft
