Kings Attendance (merged)

Poor @** people dumping money under the Christmas tree rather than blowing it on a night out. (People like me)

Edit: If you wanna save money on parking, my dad (who lives in the area) has said that people park in that Raley's / Kohls parking center across the corner from the arena and walk there all the time. It's much better lit, patrolled by security, and you can get some big spoon yogurt afterwards :)

Wow dude, why aren't more people doing this?

Sacramento area fans are acting pathetic right now. Support your damn team! I've made the round trip from the bay area a few times this season. Why the hell can't anyone in sac drive 20min to arco and support their team? Is the economy in sac so much worse than everywhere else that no one can afford $10-$20 tickets???

I go to GS games also, because they are a lot closer. Eventhough the warriors aren't a good team at all, their fans show up in packs, and are extremely loud. Its dissapointing how much better of an nba atmosphere there is in Oracle compared to Arco.

Needs to improve. This is likely to be a tough roadtrip...so the team returns home several games below .500 and that becomes the new excuse. Then Kevin returns and the message gets muddled and there is controversy and then that becomes the excuse. Then...

At some point you just need people to come out. Its the only selling point Sacramento has ever had as an NBA venue -- the fans. If they don't show, its not a profitable venue.

This is a test not only of how deep the venom injected into the fanbase has sunk, and not only of how much the economy could cripple Sacramento's viability, but also of the I.Q. of Sacramento fans. When the Blazers were in a similar position and got stocked up on young exciting talent and were starting to compete and win, the people who had abnadoned them came flooding back, even though they weren't a great team yet. They understood watching the birth of a dynasty was exciting stuff too. If Sacramento fans, who once would show up to root on Marty Conlon & Steve Colter now can't be bothered to show up to watch the ROY frontrunner and a team of hustling kids playing over .500...

Don't need to sell the place out, but the corner needs to be turned somewhere this season or the Maloofs will be absolutely right to start looking elsewhere.

They don't like to walk a quarter mile in the cold? I don't know, seems worth ten bucks to me.
I've done it before, it's not that bad. Only problem is that there isn't a great sidewalk once you get into the Arco area - it's not really pedestrian friendly.

I really wish I could go to more games, but I have an 11 month old and don't have time to make it out as much as I'd like. It's not even economics, it's just spending time with the kid takes precedence. I can't wait until he's a little older and I can take him to the games with me!

Big difference with the Blazers. They had to go from the Jail Blazers back to the Trail Blazers first.

I live an hour away from ARCO. I usually get to a few games a year. However, I have been layed off from my job, and I went back to school for a while. I have no extra cash to make the trip and see a game. Many fans who usually attend games don't just live in Sac, or even in the same county, so acting as if everybody who doesn't go to a game is lazy is ignorant IMO.

Not pathetic, just economically realistic. Sure Kings are better than in several years but the economy is in the tank and we are 3-4 weeks from Christmas during this unexpected good times Kings wise.

Heck, CruzDame and I are driving up from SolanaBeach/San Diego the day of the game just to go to the Laker game on the 26th. Our Christmas present to each other. Will stay over and have breakfast with some friends then drive back down. (Thank goodness we have a Prius!! :p)

Carmichael Dave just said tonights attendance was the LOWEST EVER in sacramento history. Don't know if thats true. But if it is.....this team will be gone soon.

True - Pathetic.

False - Unrealistic.

You know what though, I am sick of it. I'm gonna buy tickets to the next game, just because that arena looked 2/3 empty, and I'm gonna scream and yell from 10 dollar seats.

I'm gonna start turning this thing around by myself if I have to!

It's pretty depressing... I thought we were the best fans in the league... Not selling out is fine... but we need more than 10-11,000 people in their. Last years Kings dug a hole that is going to take a little while to dig out of I guess.

The attendance tonight was absolutely pathetic. :( There were whole sections disguised as chairs. I'm very excited about the kings win but equally disheartened by the lack of butts in the seats. Granted I get tickets at a discounted price from my fiance's work. However I am also a poor college student living off of financial aide working an internship that pays me minimum wage with an 8 month old son while the tickets still are $45 bucks a pop plus $10 dollars for parking. So excuses to me fall on deaf ears. My financial situation isn't ideal but I still make the effort to go. This team is playing hard and together showing similar promise that the 98-99 team exhibited. Now maybe some of you don't care if the Kings leave sac. Then of course I'm not talking to you. But if you DO care but your reason is because there are other "cultural options" to do in sac then you're kidding yourself. You and I both know there is nothing to do in sac on a Wednesday night. I've lived here for 24 years believe me I know. And through those years since I was wee lil child i've known and became comfortable with two constants once the leaves began to fall. The Kings would play and the fans would show up to ring the bells. Only one of those things is happening and it's not something i'm prepared to get used to. Lowest attendance ever people and it makes me sick to my stomach.

Not that it matters, but she doesn't have a plasma. She and I did a lot of talking about TVs, etc., a while back. Ends up we both have 56" Samsung DLP 1080p TV's (I am 99% sure she and I have the same TV, maybe off by a model year, but basically the same model).

Yep - from 2 years ago! :D

http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22610
Warhawk is correct. We do have the same TV but just different models. Sorry, I should have been more specific. My point is many people now own either plasma or LCD that have HD and would rather stay home and watch the game in HD rather than going to the game, especially with this economy.

When I don't attend games, I have friends over when the game is in HD and we have food and beer, therefore, we don't have to fight the crowd...well, what little crowd there is.

LMAO Well I got started in my college career late (at 24 so financial aide helped a lot). It's funny that you referred to your child as 30 months lol. I think once they reach two it's pretty standard to start the Years and year.5's. I do feel better now that I've vented. I'm not trying to spend other peoples money because lord knows it's xmas season. But at this point I feel like the Kings are holding up their end of the bargain. "If you play hard and with heart the fans will be there". I think I got that from VF21 somewhere along the line (since I mostly read posts and leave you fine people to the discussing). But the fans aren't showing up. It should not be possible for me to go to the game with three of my guy friends to ARCO ARENA where the loudest fans on earth are and leave empty seats between us for added comfort.

You said it yourself that you get a discounted price from your fiance's work. DO NOT cut people down because they can't attend a Kings game. Do you think maybe people have mortgages to pay and are also unemployed and have kids. What you said is stupid on your part. They have MORE responsibility than to attend sporting events. Believe me, many have WORST financial problems than you, and you have absolutely no right to cut those people at all.

You know, if you want to lecture people who aren't going to the games, you might consider doing it somewhere other than here. We've got an incredibly loyal fan base that posts on this board and I know they try their best to get to the games.

For the record? The economy in Sacramento is horrible, truly bad.

The fans WILL show up but don't expect an overnight turn-around. The first signs are already out there - our board activity has surged, people are talking about the Kings on the street and over back fences, etc. The Kings have played 9 home games so I think it's a bit premature to expect a big improvement in attendance so soon.

And, as I posted above, I don't think it's right to come here and complain about fans. Our members are some of the most loyal Kings fans you'll find on the planet. If you want to call out somebody, call Grant and put a challenge out to the folks who call in but never warm a seat.

You're absolutely right it was stupid. The Kings should just leave sac then. Because there is no money in Sacramento and the financial downturn is too much to support a local team here. Maybe I am stupid for not wanting to see that happen. The maloofs are stupid for even trying when people have mortgages to pay and have other financial responsibilities other than attending sporting events but can afford 55 inch LCD tvs. It was silly of me and maybe I'm just the only one who didn't see the writing on the wall. The Kings will leave sac and your post just convinced me of it.

I think I'm going to go with my mom to the game on the 12th vs the TWolves since it's on a saturday even though I live 2 hours away. I mean dang, I've wanted to get to a game all year and they're playing pretty good so why not?

Your right, you are stupid. Do you not realize there is a recession right now probably worst than the Great depression? People can't afford to go to the Kings games. Its not that they don't want to, its just they have MORE responsibilities more than attending games. However, if you want to keep talking out of your a**, then go ahead. Believe me, I would love for people to go to the games, but I am very understanding that they have more responsibilities than attending a Kings game.

No disrespect VF21 but i'm talking to anyone who is a kings fan that has not been to a single game this year. Again if my attempts to stir up a little purple blood are so horrible I will gladly go back to just reading posts. But I do want to see people back at arco but I do not feel that others feel the urgency of the situation at hand. The kings will leave if things don't change drastically. 10,021 are horrible numbers on the 4th game of a 4 game winning streak. I'm not saying there should be a sell out or am insensitive to the financial woes. But to be complacent and just pray that a financial upswing occurs...is to lose the kings. And that cuts me deep to my soul.

lol calm down bro, it makes me mad too, and I'm guilty of not having gone this year(my excuse=living 2 hours away), but I think we're about 1 month and a half from getting good attendance numbers. This is a bad recession, but that december game vs LA is sold out supposedly, and we're going to have better draws coming in to arco too(the one vs lebron is on my birthday, kind of want to go to that one), and after christmas people will have more money, or maybe people will want kings tix for presents since they're playing better, or maybe they'll get money as a present, etc. But this team is playing better, and at the same time you're going to need more than a nice start vs some bad teams to convince everyone we're back. I think it'll happen, but probably some time in January. In the spring hopefully I can make it to more games, and hopefully the twolves one coming up soon. But I think people are still having reservations about this team.

For your information, I have attended 3 Kings games so far. Believe me, people would love to attend games, however, due to the economy people are finding other ways to support their team, such as, watching games on TV. And by the way, you are being insensitive to people's financial woes by what you said in your #44 post

I know you're a tenured poster but I don't know why you're resorting to name calling? Stupid? Are we in 4th grade? If you don't agree with me that's fine but it's hard to read the rest of your post after that. Like I said before I did realize something from your previous post. There is a financial downturn and no amount of prodding is going to make people start showing up to the games. So by that logic the Kings should just pack up and leave because no amount of winning, heart and hustle is going to change the financial situation right?

When did I say Rockmeister should attend games because he/she has not? I said I was speaking to anyone who has not attended games no that you have not attended games. If you have then why are you getting so ruffled by my statement. And if #'s of posts is your barometer for loyalty to the kings then I suggest you get off the computer more.

Do you really think you're the only one who feels that way? There are ways to make your point without resorting to slightly veiled insults to loyal members of this board. I know a lot of these people and I know they do what they can to support the team.

There were a lot of us who predicted this would happen - that the fan base would be very difficult to lure back in once the team hit rock bottom. And thus, it came to pass...

Instead of preaching to the choir, however, why not talk to your friends and get them to go to a game? People who are loyal posters here aren't the problem.

I would dearly love to attend every single game and I would if I didn't live two hours away from Arco...and I don't drive, which means I have to get someone to give me a ride to Marysville where I can catch a second ride to Sacramento for the game. And I have to do the same to get back.

Other people have their own reasons for not attending games but if they're Kings fans - which most here definitely are - it's not because they don't want to be there.

Our goodwill ambassador, 6th, has taken on an additional duty as a group ticket manager, to get more people to games with DISCOUNT tickets available. (See the Tickets forum...)

People here are doing what they can and I get really defensive when they get called out by someone who makes a lot of assumptions and generalizations.

NONE of us want the Kings to leave. ALL of us would love to see Arco rockin' again. And I'm pretty sure there are a lot of our members already trying to figure out ways to afford at least one Kings game. The only way this gets better is one fan at a time, one game at a time. If each person who goes to a game could find a way to take one more person with them, our problems would be solved.

/end rant

Okay, stop.

I can issue infractions or I can just post a general comment. At this point, I'm choosing the latter. This is getting stupid. The sniping between you and Rockmeister is getting too personal and too off-topic.

As far as making snide remarks about number of posts, you might want to reconsider that right now.

Get back to discussing the attendance and quit the attacks. And that goes for ALL concerned.
