Garcia and Hayes are not the problem, any more than Evans is. Both are perfectly acceptable role players... in a vacuum. The problem is Smart's rotations: you can't put them on the court at the same time as the guys that they are most often on the court with. Put Garcia on the court with Evans, Cousins, Johnson and Robinson, and he's fine. Put Hayes on the court with Evans, Cousins, Thornton and Salmons, and he's fine. This lineup, however, manages to add up to something much less than the sum of its parts.
