Likely not going to happen, but if you were ever going to try to revive Cauley-Stein as a starter, this might be the game to do it against essentially fellow collegians he would have matched up with at Kentucky (assuming the reports they might start their bigs together are true).

I think this would be an especially bad game to start Trill. If they did start Embiid & Okafor either one would quickly take him to the low post. This is one of those rare instances (if the Sixers donatart both bigs) where I think Cousins & Koufos are the right starters for the Kings.

If they want to give Willie a start it should be against a team with a stretch four who can also post up smaller (aka Barnes) defenders. Ryan Anderson & Houston immediately come to mind.

The Warriors might be another matchup that might work to start Willie.

Embiid has been a ton of fun this season to watch as he's been taking it to everyone and not backing down from the the top C's in the game. He hasn't had to face a threat like Boogie yet though, especially when he's rolling like he is now.

It's so frustrating that they keep the 25 minute cap on him still... it's not like he's going to spontaneously combust if he plays 30 minutes. It's doing them a huge disservice by not getting his conditioning up and keeping them out of games they could possibly win.

The Sixers are taking the proper and precautionary approach, rightfully so. He has missed two straight seasons due to injuries, you can't mess around with that type of injury. Next season he can play more and dominate the league, this season, tank one last time while remaining competitive in the games he does play and doesn't...and have Ben Simmons, Embiid & lottery pick for next season. It's about time the Sixers start turning it around, barring injuries to significant players, they will be a force IMO.

Ryan Anderson DESTROYED Willie last year. Willie actually has major problems defending perimeter shooters. The ability to show and recover is swell, but not worth much if he can't defend his man.

and to add to that notion, I think Willie is the worst in terms of actually putting up a hand and contesting jump shots, I never, ever see him contest one, he just puts his hands down and runs off.

btw, Kayte is reporting that the Sixers floor is ****ed up again, and the game could be delayed or even cancelled? Swell.

If Embiid stays healthy and Simmons is as advertised the Sixers have their franchise cornerstones.

Noel & Okafor are poor fits but give them trade bait to balance out the roster.

In addition to their own picks in the next couple years they also have the Lakers pick in the next draft (top 3 protected), the Kings 1st in 2018 along with a pick swap option this year and a future OKC first along with a bunch of second rounders.

Add in a bunch of caproom and the Sixers should have no issue surrounding Simmons & Embiid with role players/3&D guys and the third big piece (likely a guard) they need to have a team poised to start a very quick climb out of the basement and eventually into a real playoff contender.

We can all hate how Hinkie went about it but the reality is that the 76ers now have a vastly brighter future than the Kings.

Very frustrating.

But on paper that's who Cauley-Stein SHOULD be able to defend. I thought WCS could be a game changer on defense but now I can't even think of good situations for him to even get minutes. I loved the idea of a guy who could switch out on anyone and defend reasonably well, at least for short stretches. Instead he hasn't shown he can defend anybody.

Sure hope he figures things out.

76ers and about 10+ teams have a brighter future than the Kings, this is non-news. I'll be rooting for the Sixers though when they are good again and the Kings continue to fight for 40 wins and endless lottery appearances.

We just cannot catch a bleeping break.

So if it can't be played, they probably move it to tomorrow, so we end up with yet ANOTHER back to back. Ridiculous.

Grant is surprised the public address announcer hasn't informed the fans (you know, the ones who booed Santa Claus) that the game has been cancelled? LOL!
