Kenny Thomas should be over Moore

Kenny Thomas is a better rebounder and defender than Moore and should be used as the back up PF. The fact is that Thomas is still apart of our future at least for the next year (Lol!) and having him on the floor could (cross ur fingers) actually raise his trade value.

Im so sick of Mikki Moore getting killed on defense and not rebounding anywhere on the floor, funny how things change but BRING BACK K9 AT THE BACK UP PF SPOT!

??? Um, okay... Talk about a totally random thread out of nowhere. :p

Seriously, at the risk of being laughed off the board, I agree. I think Kenny did a perfectly adequate job in his last outing. He's basically a better player than Mikki to begin with and if the silly "I need to start" stuff is gone, which I'm almost positive it MUST be, I don't have a problem with KT getting some regular rotation minutes. PROVIDED, of course, he doesn't impede Thompson's progress.

Just goes to show what an awful signing Moore was if we have people wanting KT to get minutes again ahead of him haha.

I agree though, all Moore has on KT is height...And he doesnt even really use it.

PF rotation should be JT/KT/Moore

definitely. and if you ARE going to impede thompson's progress by giving moore minutes, you might as well give them to KT instead.

he's better than moore... but damn... id rather not see either one playing unless someone gets injured... start thompson and let hawes back up both pf/c...

Is it too early to nominate this for Worst Thread of 2009?

nope go ahead if ya like.... How ever, is it too early to nominate Mikki as the weakest PF in the NBA? or is that just a fact by now?

Look I think theres no excuse for Hawes and Thompson not playing AT LEAST 30 mins a night unless their injured.

But...
It does make ALOT of sense to play K9 over Mikki Moore at this point. Kenny Thomas did something at some point to get the overpaid contract he has now. I mean he did post decent numbers as a starter at one point. Hes a better defender in the paint and a WAY better rebounder than Moore.

who knows maybe he could string together a few more good games off the bench to sway teams to take him on in a trade???

Playing K9 over Moore is a "cant lose" situation with the slight chance that he could improve his stock. ??? so...

One wrinkle on the KT v Moore debate should be the influence on the young players and not simply who is the most productive. Say what you want about Mikki, but he works his tail off, dives for loose balls and hustles. I don't think that KT necessarily slacks, but the example that Moorse sets for the kids is a better one.

uh im not so sure about that... Im pretty sure Mikki already isn't handling his mins dropping very well... It seem that their both alright guys, character wise. I havent heard K.T. complain beyond what you'd expect from a one time starter and vet in this league. I think its a wash on the effort, character issue.

One BIG problem with KT is he's not big (TALL) for a PF and suffers mightily in mismatches against all the 7 footers he's up against or even the everyday slew of 6'10 guys. Same thing with Shelden Williams. At least when oppositions PF's are face-to-face with 7'0 Mikki Moore they think twice about trying to immediately post him up. It still might happen, but less so with 6'7 or 6'8 KT or Shelden at PF. How terrible to have to debate merits or lack thereof concerning these scrubs. Hopefully, Kings now play Jason Thompson 40+ mins every game so it won't be much of a debate worth having. He's young, fresh legs, eager to get after it, so can certainly handle the load and long haul for rest of the season.

Kenny is by far the better all around player! ! ! ! ! ! ! LOL! (what am i talking about.. LOL!) wow ... good times!

its true tho K9 can handle big's bumping into him vs Moore can be blown away by a little gust of wind.

one of these 2 guys is gonna play mins off the bench every game. even if thompson plays 40. so that what this thread is all about

Well if JT plays 40 mins (not 41 or 44) that leaves 8 mins of garbage for KT or Mikki. That also assumes that Kings maybe did not go small for a time or played Brad and Spencer together for a time. So the thread is what it is:eek:

Kenny lost his offensive game--completely. He fooled Billy King into giving him that super long and expensive contract by painting a picture of a player who rebounded well, hustled, played defense, and scored from inside-out. Now, at his advancing age he doesn't even have that same bounce to offset his height in finishing inside, and he's completely neglected that jumper (which has declined anyway). I still think he has the chops to play solid defense when motivated, but with Kenny's mind you never know what's going on in there, and that 4 steal 1 blk game could easily be a fluke, and may be short-lived. Still, by all means, give him some minutes to see what he can do because we're stuck with that bad contract and he has negative trade value, but just don't expect him to show flashes of the past Kenny. He may be happy to get out of the doghouse temporarily, but he's well past his prime, perhaps out of shape, and on top of that a grumpy pissed off player.

Well just showing the league the guy can actually still find the court is good enough for me to play him over Moore to me - maybe it'll get someone to finally bite on a trade

To sit and say he is past his prime, he has lost a step, he cant jump anymore and he has forgotten his jumper is a JOKE.
Have you been watching him in practice or somethign every day? Cause you darn sure havent seen him play during the past two seasons to make those kind of remarks in regards to KT.

I said it a few days ago in another thread, KT is flat out better than moore. And quite honestly, the man has earned my respect for the way he has handled his situation. He is CLEARLY(IMO) a good enough player to be getting 15-17 minutes a night on this team and you havent heard about him being a distraction or sitting and whining, something 90% of the players in the league would be doing if they were in Kenny's shoes. Regardless of how much these guys make, they still have pride and they still want to play.

Ill second the nod for Kenny to be getting the backup minutes at the 4. And tonight he played another solid game in the limited minutes he got.

No one has. Because he's been at the end of the bench of a bad team. The reason someone doesn't play for 2 years IS because they're past their prime, have lost a step, etc etc etc..

-------------

HOWEVER, we are in agreement that he is better than Mikki.

In all fairness to Kenny Thomas, there were other factors involved that influenced his playing time or lack thereof...

Right now, he's healthy and he's capable of giving us some rebounds off the bench without threatening the progress of the kids.

Kenny has earned some respect in my book. He's come back and played hard, and he's definitely part of the TEAM. That's enough for me.
