John Wall

Yeah f Ricky Rubio and any other point guard in this year's draft next year John Wall is the 1 pick in the 2010 Draft. He might be the flashiest player ever more than Dwyane Wade and even more than Jordan. Anyone else on the John Wall bandwagon?

I don't like bandwagon's. There way to noisy. But, yes, I do like Wall. I would be careful about who you compare him to though. Thats pretty high praise for someone who hasn't even played one game in college

I'm looking forward to seeing him play in college. College recruiting is similar to the draft in the sense that you just don't know what you're going to get...

I've got a feeling that we may be back in the Top 5 pick area next year (barring drastic moves this summer) so I hope Wall - along with John Henson, Xavier Henry et al - pan out a lot better than this years' so-called freshmen phenoms.

Thank goodness, because I always look for the flashiest player. I think I'll wait for him to actually play against decent competition before passing judgment on his abilities. That being said, he may be of interest to the Kings if they do not draft Rubio or Jennings. If they go small this year, I'm pretty sure they're going to draft big next year.

I have been saying for a while that we should pick Griffin this year and wait for Wall for next year.

Also, if Rubio doesn't declare until next year then it would be pretty easy to pick up either Wall or Rubio next year.

There's also Derrick Favors, a senior right now in HS, who is very intriguing. He could play the SF position in the NBA and would bring in tons of athleticism. We can't really depend on high schoolers though because you never know how they will turn out besides Lebron James.

You know this years draft is weak when we're probably picking top 4, but people are talking about kids coming out NEXT year. Haha.

But yeah, we'll be picking super high in '10 too, bring on Wall!

Favors is more of a PF/C at this point, he'll probably play C at Georgia Tech next year. He sounds like an Okafor type.

I'm curious, what sound does an Okafor make exactly. I would like to know for the next time I'm in the woods.

I'm sorry I made the awful mistake of making a player comparison. Please forgive me, next time I'll check with you to see if you approve

Mi amigo, it was a joke. A play on words. I couldn't resist, but it was not personal. I may disagree with you on some things, but I do respect your opinion.

From Chad Ford's Chat

Mike, FL: Is John Wall the No. 1 pick in 2010 Draft. He was awesome at the Hoop Summit game.

Chad Ford: He was awesome and he'll compete with Ed Davis and a few other freshmen for that. However, there is some buzz that Wall believes he might be eligible for THIS year's draft. I've been doing some digging and will be filing a story later today. The short rub is this: Wall is a 5th year senior and depending on how you read the collective bargaining agreement, 5th year seniors are eligible for the draft as long as the turn 19 in the calander year (Wall does). The league is taking a wait and see approach. If he declares, they'll research and make a ruling. If he does declare and is ruled eligible (two big ifs) he's a Top 5 pick in this draft. Maybe Top 3.

Interesting report. The draft would suddenly become a lot deeper if he's allowed to enter. I watched the USA against the world game the other day. Wall was very, very good. He's lightning quick with great hops. He seems to have all the skills necessary to play the point in the NBA. Just watching him in the one game made me believe he could be a star in the NBA.

He hasn't commited to a college yet, and after seeing this report, it makes sense now.

I didn't see the us v world game but I haven't been too overly impressed about the stuff I've read about him. Obviously a really high upside guy and would be temping, any addition like that would help us and this draft but I can't say I'm that confident of his "star potential." I say this without having seen him though. I highly highly doubt he actually declares even if he is eligible, they said Mayo might do the same thing and he ended up barely considering it.

Wall is an elite talent. I doubt he gets to enter this year, but if he does, you'd have to seriously evaluate whether he should be taken ahead of Griffin and Rubio. He has excellent athleticism and play making ability. I don't think he is the overall athlete that Rose is, but he may still be developing. PG is a very hard spot to fill. I'd take a long, hard look at him even if we got the number one.

As an aside, I'd love him to enter for the simple reason that it gives us another potential star if we don't get a top 2 pick. Top 3 is very likely in our position, and I'd be thrilled with one of Griffin, Rubio, or Wall.

As a 5th yr senior...in high school! he may not be able to spell coolege, let alone get into one.
I was wondering about that. It appeaars he went to a prep school that was different than his 4-year high school. Makes me wonder if he couldn't get into college, like Jennings, or just didn't want to go to college, so played an extra year at this prep school to kill time until he could enter the draft. As opposed to going to Europe, like Jennings. Of course, if he's ruled inelgible, it would be a totally wasted year, if that's what he did.

Of course, maybe he couldn't graduate and had used up his 4 years of HS eligibility, so this was his only chance to bring grades up, still play basketball and get into a college.
