Suns Press Release - The Phoenix Suns announced today that they have waived swingman Jim Jackson.

The 6-6, 220-pound guard/forward averaged 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.6 minutes in 27 games (one start) with the Suns in 2005-06. Jackson, who is in his 14th NBA season, has not played in the team’s last 24 games, dating back to Jan. 4 vs. Philadelphia.

“Jimmy has made great contributions to our team and has been a consummate professional. We wish him well,” said Suns Head Coach Mike D’Antoni.

Really surprised he hasn't been used the last 24 games... even with the new guys.

I'd love to see us get him for our bench, but like with Delk, I bet he gets signed by a top team/legit playoff team.

lol, first move by the new managers in Pheonix isn't a good one....Jim Jackson was a huge part of their team a year ago...i guess Diaw just pushed him out of the line-up (oh and eddie house)

anyway, i guess JJ is moving on...i bet he'll get one more contract, get the NBA record for most teams played on, play next season and then call it quits

what about james jones? he doesnt have the record, he's like 25...its Tony Massenburg and Jimmy Jackson that are tied for the most teams played on

We don't need him, and have nowhere to put him; why should we even consider signing Jackson when we already have Artest, Wells, Martin, Garcia and Monia?

As long as he doesn't end up in Detroit or San Antonio, I couldn't care less... although, it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up back in one of his old stomping grounds: Dallas, Miami and Cleveland could all use him.

I can't understand why Phoenix would waive him. I thought he was a solid contributer to the team last year. I know his minutes had dipped this year, but who couldn't use a solid vet off the bench? I don't see us picking him up....but like Slim said Detroit, SA, Miami, Cleveland and Dallas could all be takers. I think he would fit in well with Miami.

Jimmy needs minutes to be effective. Earlier in the season when Barbosa was out he got minutes, but did not play well. When Barbosa came back, no more minutes. I read that he and D'Antoni had an agreement that he would not play in garbage time, so that is why he has not played at all since early January.

I was a teen and bought a Jim Jackson jersey when he signed with the Mavs. I miss that "Triple - J Ranch" (Jim Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd)

It still boggles my mind how Dallas was as bad as they were, to have those three guys.

They were all knuckle heads at the time. Weren't they arguing over Toni Braxton or something?

please don't pick up anymore players. it's not like we're going really deep in the playoffs. lets give the young bucks a chance to show what they can do.

Yea Kidd and JJ were fighting over Toni Braxton while on a road trip I think. Or something like that. Then I forgot how Mashburn got involved but he was traded just the same.
