I really liked Jack coming out of the draft--you knew that his bottom was going to be a solid roleplayer right away, although his ceiling wasn't that high due to his lack of good athletic indicators. In a draft where talented athletic run-wild guards unleashed their flaws this way and that way, it was refreshing to see a tallish guard play "the right way", with few flaws and pretty good talent. While he hasn't proved me wrong, we just don't need a player like him. He's sort of straddling the line between starter and backup here (I'm leaning more towards backup), and he's not a great point guard--merely a solid one at best, who can play the position adequately. In addition, his shooting is middling, is finishing ability is average, and he has average athleticism and footspeed. Still fairly young, but at this point with his lack of substantial improvements in certain areas and in terms of his overall game, five years from now he is probably what you see right now. And we are not in the market for a stopgap point guard or a safe pick--we really need a good point guard who can actually playmake, and the route to go for that one is perhaps via the draft.
