To be fair, I only watched a couple of Suns games last year (all vs Kings, I think) and did not see a single game this season, but another possible trouble I see is PJ Tucker. I saw him playing SG in Ukraine and he was pretty successful overpowering opponents in the post. Judging by Isaiah's comments about Rudy and Cuz, I would guess that Suns players have already studied some aspects of Kings game (actually, I doubt it, it's just Kings stuck in Isaiah's head). So I think it's possible Hornacek will use Bledsoe at PG, Tucker at SG and Green at SF with a lot of post plays for Tucker on our SG's.

Meanwhile, now I will definitely watch this game live, he got me with this "What is it, five games in?".

There is no way IT can prove anything. He still thinks, or so I guess, that if he scores a lot it proves something. The issue with him was never about scoring. I'll bet he doesn't know that.

to be fair to the suns, it's really early in the season, and while i've questioned the merits of a dragic/bledsoe/thomas guard rotation, hornacek's brainy enough to figure out a way to make it work. also, a tough loss to the grizzlies is hardly some kind of indictment of team chemistry; memphis remains undefeated, and they're trotting out the league's nastiest defense out of the gate. i mean, goodness gracious, they're only allowing 86 ppg thus far!!

i don't know that IT is a great fit with the suns, and "only one ball to go around" syndrome may be a serious problem for them as the season wears on, but it's hardly time to invoke a crisis of chemistry, just as it's hardly time to invoke rallying cries about how the kings have turned the corner. i think it will be more appropriate to revisit these conversations next month, when team identities have begun to solidify...
Their issues go beyond the Memphis game. I don't know if I have as much faith in hornacek as you do to make things work, considering the type of player they signed. They've got a third team all NBA player standing in the corner hoping to get the ball going from 20/6 to 12/2 and publically questioning his role already in Dragic. It's bizarre to relegate your best player to that, and if I'm dragic, I'm questioning why I'm even there. Even in a small sample size, that's concerning. (It's extra concerning for my fantasy team, but I digresss).

Unless they add an extra basketball, I see issues all season long. Because if dragic's role expands, as it should, then someone else is unhappy. And frankly, IT just doesn't seem happy with anything. It's a shame. He's living the dream.

I said essentially the same thing in another thread. Imagine that. People have focused so much on IT that they forget what the reaction of the other guards might be about IT's signing.

would you expect anything less out of IT? I for one look forward to seeing how the guards defend him, hope they pressure him non stop and work relentlessly to post him up.

I'm watching the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter of the Suns vs. Grizzlies game... Wow, IT sucked it hard. Dribble, dribble...wave hands to pass me the ball...drive and hope for foul...drive and turnover...lane violation? Sheesh. He could have been enjoying 6th man of the year with us right now, champagne and all, if he bought in. Too bad.

It still would not have been good with him, even as a committed 6th man. The chemistry would just not be the same

I'm interested to see Ben vs Bledsoe btw. Ben's quote after the game last night, basically "my goal is to be one of the top defensive SG's in the league" is promising to see from a mental standpoint. If he's going into games with the mindset to prove himself defensively and attempting to make a point with his defense every night, that gets me excited. I'm a defensive guy and that mentality fires me up, especially when I can see tangible improvement from Ben on that end.
Yessssssssssss!

And he's got all the tools and athleticism to become one. I'm glad he is now thinking defense to be his main focus for now while waiting for those sweet-looking shots to go in.

Also, I'd put Ray on IT when DC isn't out there. Ray knows IT's game far better than Sessions does obviously.
I agree.

Also, we need another hungry player to guard IT. Someone inspired and someone who wants to prove himself. I think McCallum is perfect for the job.

Sessions, with his very slow reaction and lackluster defense will get burned by IT. He just seems not ready to play his A-game yet on both sides of the floor. And frankly, I am getting tired of waiting for him to buy in what the team is hoping to accomplish. I feel like he is still in a wait-and-see mode trying to feel the game.

To Mr. Sessions:
Sir, the regular season has started and we are now about to play our 6th game. We need the real Sessions now.

Wake-up!

Dragic is getting the "Tyreke Evans" treatment lol. Career year being the lead guard? Lets have him spot up in the corner next year.

Exactly. Didn't want to start another round of debate, but since you mentioned it already, that's the first thing, that I thought, when I read about the situation.

Yes, he is. And it's absolutely bizarre.

It's deja vu. Dragic is best when the ball is in his hands. Third team all NBA! He led that team, and now he's just part of the spectators watching the IT show. And Bledsoe too. It's contagious, that style of play. They overpaid the two wrong guys. And will likely lose dragic, or if dragic is smart, he'll move on as quickly as possible to a team that appreciates his talent.

PHX fans will have the dragic vs IT debates. the fact it's starting 5 games in was entirely predictable. I'm not sure how you stop it and still play IT around 30 mins. And unlike kyrie, who is getting called out by lebron, there just isn't a lebron that he respects to reign him in. It'll be interesting to watch what happens. Kyrie is also significantly more talented and worth the effort.

I hope hornacek does figure it out, cause I'm offended as a basketball fan, just as I was during the "Tyreke can't touch the ball anymore" years.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves, this could be the game the suns work it all out.

I'm just looking forward to this game being over so we can put the circus behind us for a while and concentrate on trying to stay near .500 on this road trip.

"Isaiah had great energy, and we loved that about him, but we saw him as being more of a supporting actor. He did not like that. There were certain times where he tried to take over a commercial when we wanted a more ensemble based style going forward with our franchise. We tried to work with him in accepting a supporting role, telling him that the Sonic guys have made a great name for themselves just doing that. He wanted to be one of the leads, and that's just not what we are looking for going forward. But he wanted to join the ranks of Flo from Progressive, and we just don't need Flo, we need an ensemble cast."

:D

Really, I think the refs will decide this game.
And.....our coach, Malone.

Malone just needs to find a way to stop the midgets of Phoenix and we have all kinds of inspired players to do just that. If Malone finds the right players, then we easily take a 5-1 record.

I can see the bigger burden will be on Phoenix.

Who's going to stop Cousins and Gay?

Let's go Kings!

Hornacek didn't let IT make this game about him which is admirable. If he does, Kings win this one going away.

Does anyone know why IT barely got any minutes today? I guarantee you if his coach let IT be IT...the game would've been VERY interesting. They had their starters in way too long.
