Houston gives Brad Miller 3 yr $15 mil deal

#3
Rockets fans at Clutchfans.net are mostly negative on the move. They think Miller is too soft (haha) and way over-the-hill at 34. Others take is he will only play 15 mins or so as Yao's back-up and familiarity with Adelman and K-Mart is a plus - even if he's being over paid. Apparently, 3rd year of his deal is only partially guaranteed.

..I wouldn't say the Clutchfans folks are "mostly" negative about the deal...a lot have trepidation about the amount of money but that's Les Alexander's problem...and I see a lot of them commenting on Brad's grit...

...many think Brad is an excellent addition to the team as a backup for Yao and insurance should Yao be injured again..

Let me get this straight. If yao somehow gets injured or retires both highly possible. The Rockets couls have Kevin Martin and Brad Miller starting for them? uhm hello 17 win season for the Rockets. I am crossing them off the list of teams we have to jump.

The Rockets have enough hard nosed players to make up for Martin and Miller. Martin and Miller should help them on the offensive end. It could work out really well.

So you had them on the list before, but you're crossing them off because they added depth in the frontcourt? I can understand not liking the signing, but I don't see how it makes them worse.

Don't underestimate Rick Adelman

I feel bad for what we have done to that franchise, poisoning them with our castoffs and softies to the point that their entire gritty personality is in danger of being washed away. If it weren't for us giving them a 900 win coach, by all rights the fans down there, at least the smarter ones, should consider us public enemy #1.

It was mostly an attempt at levity in saying the had 2/5 of our starting lineup from our 17 win season. I really don't care either way.

With the signing of Brad, the Rockets have moved to the top 3 teams in the west. Unless somehow the Spurs makes a few moves or Splitter over achieves greatly, I don't see them being in the top 4 anymore.

The Rockets has the length and depth to match up with the lakers. Yao is still one of the biggest mismatches in the game and now they have a legit 7 footer to share minutes with him. I think Jordan Hill will do fine off the bench for Scola and they still have Kevin Martin + Aaron Brooks.

They also have 2 perimeter defenders in Battier + Ariza. People can say Miller has gone soft, but the Rockets is full of bulldogs and I see Miller picking it up as well to play more like his younger days. Rockets will give the lakers all they can handle and possibly knock them out.

Still too early to say Rockets have moved up the top 3. Their fate is entirely dependant on Yao Ming's health... Hopefully he has recovered and is back to full strength.

We should probably wait and see how Yao is when he comes back. His injury was pretty darn severe.

Brad Miller is awesome.... I was at Safeway in Roseville a few years ago after a close win against the Lakers, and there was Brad Miller buying tons of beer, in line next to me at the checkout. So I commented "nice win tonight, party at your house?". And he goes "hell yea, wanna come?". It was late and I had to go home, so I said "thanks, but I can't" :-(
