Head Coach Paul Westphal

I loved his coaching tonight from start to finish. First, he got in line during Kings player intros and double, triple or quadrupled Spencer with low and high fives - then CHEST BUMPED HIM! Wow!! What a cool move to leave no doubt the so-called drama was at least over-blown and now the dust bin of HISTORY. Then Hawes goes out and plays a helluva game!

Coach knew he had to have an all-out effort against Sloan and the tough, on a roll Jazz. Westphal had the right chess move by teaming Beno in back court with Tyreke. Controlling or at least matching Utah's legendary tempo was critical - and Beno did it early and often.

His rotations can be questioned but tonight they worked perfectly. It's a young team and you can argue Donte (unless slightly injured) should have played, or maybe even Dominic McGuire should have been in for a couple minutes;) He's probably in a battle with Udoka going forward - but Ime is the exp'd vet who probably matches better with a very seasoned Jazz team. Cisco got quality minutes and did well:) All and all, a good win and the coach should get some credit to for putting the right pieces on the board to get the W:D

That move spoke volumes regarding Coach's relationship with his players and his desire to have their respect.

And, according to the post-game interview with Spencer, the choreography for the intros was done by Westphal. :)

Westphal is a good coach. Maybe a couple of years from now the ankle biters will see that. He yanked on the reins about as hard as he could and started to get diminishing returns. Now he's loosening up some. When complacency starts to set in, he'll probably start yanking again...
