I Think that whatever big we end up getting. we will probably see Green, Casspi and Noc playing a significant amount of mins at the 4...

yes they will probably all be destroyed by an Al Jefferson type PF but there is a chance that they could still harass that type of PF enough to play some mins.

With Westphal im assuming that we will be going with a "small ball" lineup when ever either JT or Hawes sits.

Im guessing that Hawes and JT would play the 5 in this system
and Casspi, Green and Noc are all interchangeable at the 4

I fairly positive that we will be seeing this a lot since getting Green and Casspi mins will be a priority.

sorry Im not sure this belongs in the personnel moves... my bad... it is late tho

Yeah, this is actually a benefit of having a team full of multi-positional players like Noc,Greene,Garcia,Evans, and JT... all the potential lineups. The possiblities are endless.

I too think Ike can be a big help off the bench at the 5 depending on match-ups and when the Kings go small. He is the big body they need and can be a hog on the boards as well as stepping away for a mid-range.

Then as is said on this thread, Green, Casspi, Noce and Brockman become interchangeable at the 3 & 4. Same for Beno, Rodriquez, Evans at the 1 and Evans, Cisco and Martin at the 2. Which seems to say McCants is odd man out but very tradeable I think.

Looking at the current roster with the rookies we have:

5 Hawes, Diogu
4 JT, Greene, Brockman, (KennyT)
3 Noce, Casspi
2 Martin, Cisco
1 Udrih, Evans, Rodriquez

This is 13 the league minimum and does not include McCants who I think gets traded for draft choices, Simmons who still has 2 more yr on his contract, and BJax whose contract expired. Don't be surprised to see BJax back with vet minimum $$. So McCants and Simmons would have roster at 15 which Maloofs absolutely don't want. So............

A bit off topic, but I had a dream last night we did a sign and trade for Hedo. Seems unlikely, but it is what it is.

Well, not endless. Assuming a 15-man roster, the total number of possible lineups is:

15!
10!

which comes out to 360,360. I should know...check my avatar! ;)

I don't believe that Simmons is still under contract. ;)

As Bajaden pointed out, Simmons is not under contract. Neither are McCants or Diogu, so we're actually at 12 right now. I think that the Evans draft makes it unlikely that we will try to bring McCants back -- I just don't see where McCants could get minutes from now. Diogu could be a useful rotation player, but would only bring us to the minimum 13 if we resign him. We might find other big man solutions as well. But we're not quite at roster crunch time.

I'm in favor of bringing back Bobby on the cheap and trading Beno for a #3 big man if we can pull that sort of thing off. Then, if we can still get Diogu for under say $2M, do it and call it an offseason.

Simmons is a FA
Doigu will just be a stopgap player, IF the Kings sign him. Until they come up with a rebounder/ shot blocker to complement JT and Hawes we will be back in the lottery for the next couple of years.

From the comments made from the coach, and the players we have now, I'm fearing this team turning into the Warriors or Suns, with an all-offense mindset with a ton of versatile guys but not so effective in on area (like, having a great shooter, a great low post player, etc, but guys who can do a little bit but not as effective). I'm a firm believer in having more focused and effective players instead of taking this "do some of everything" approach. I don't want to be the warriors.

I think the Brockman pick might well have signaled an end to Diogu's tenure as a King, but if he could be kept, I'd have no problem. I love his tenacity and his heart. His production at the end of the year is all we have to go on for the simple reason he wasn't ours for most of the year. He stayed ready, though, and responded each and every time his number was called. I admire that.

As far as trading KT and Beno for a 7 footer, I don't think we have enough kool-aid left to get a GM to buy into that scenario.

;)

well if a GM has a PG need or concern at PG (injury, age, etc) and also has a extra big hes not high on or wants to free up some salary for next year. then that move makes alot of sense.

We all hate Beno and know how terrible he can be... but he might be more effective with fewer mins and might be more motivated in a backup roll. he did play pretty good only a year ago, and although we consider him overpaid he's really at a fair or expected price...

Hes not a starter, but Beno could be a very good backup??? who knows?

Call Memphis. They seemed to have plenty stocked up there that last couple years. If that doesn't work, give Minnesota a try. :p

yeah maybe they need a PG we could send them Beno.... you cant ever have enough PG's right? :D

Casspi will be dang lucky to play in 40 games and average 8 min a game.

If we're really comitted to rebuilding we'll need to see him just slightly more then that, 12 minutes a game in every game he is available to play. That's the only way to evaluate and/or develop him. He looks like he could be long term replacement for Noce and Noce at his age and predilection to pout and dump on his team/teammates when they're struggling is very ill suited to be a part of rebuilding effort. And at 29, Noce is Methusalem compared to the rest of the team.

I Cringe when we play Donte @ 4,

we could have a pretty big lineup of

Evans/Martin/Greene/Thompson/Hawes
