Gerald Wallace didn't abuse Salmons at all in the first quarter. He got four free points in transition, two off of a poorly defended baseline screen and two off of a Tyreke Evans foul and two off of John Salmons on a weak call. That's it.
Q1 11:48 - baseline screen involving Tyreke Evans and John Salmons, who aren't on the same page about how to defend it. Tyreke Evans switches, while John Salmons does not, meaning they both end up guarding the same guy while the other gets open. The Kings aren't in much trouble on this play, but Cousins panics and commits a dumb foul anyway.
FAULT: Cousins, but note the confusion on the baseline screen.
Q1 11:16 - big too far from the basket in the pick and roll - Chuck Hayes is too far away from the basket to stop Felton from driving and getting an open layup. I think Tyreke also makes a mistake by going under the pick, but that doesn't affect the play.
FAULT: Chuck Hayes
Q1 10:10 - transition defense - they get back, but once Cousins gets there, he forgets to pick somebody up. Camby gets an open jumpshot.
FAULT: DeMarcus Cousins or the team for not talking.
Q1 9:57 - gambling - marcus thornton decides to go for a steal in the back court and never gets back. Portland gets an open three.
FAULT: Marcus Thornton
Q1 9:27 - tyreke evans keeps Felton out of the middle, Cousins stays close to the basket to stop felton from driving and the Blazers turn it over. Not a coincidence!
Q1 8:40 - baseline screen - Tyreke Evans and John Salmons in another baseline screen. They're on the same page this time and stick to their guy instead of switching. Tyreke stays too close to his guy, though, letting Marcus Camby throw a pass to Wallace who gets an open layup under the basket.
FAULT: Tyreke Evans.
Q1 7:43 - sideline pick and roll - Cousins and Thornton don't ice. Get burned.
FAULT: Coach (he might not want them to ice), Cousisn or Thornton
Q1 6:40 - sideline pick and roll - Hayes and Thornton don't ice. Blazers get two open shots but their guard makes a bad pass.
FAULT: it's starting to look like the coach.
Q1 5:55 - transition defense - kings don't get back. John Salmons' guy scored, but Tyreke Evans was safety on that play and did not perform.
FAULT: Tyreke Evans.
Q1 3:35 - transition defense - Travis Outlaw decides to attack the offensive board from half court. He was supposed to be the safety on the play. Gerald Wallace gets a one on nothing layup.
FAULT: Travis Outlaw
Q1 2:35 - boxing out - Jimmer stays in front of a guy trying to drive, but runs away after the player puts up a garbage shot instead of boxing out. Blazers get a free bucket.
FAULT: Jimmer Fredette
Q1 0:46 - gambling - marcus thornton gambles for a steal (probably on an emotional high after just hitting a transition three) and gets burned. The blazers get an open jumper.
FAULT: Marcus Thornton
Q1 0:06 - big too far from the basket in the pick and roll - JJ Hickson is too far from the basket to stop Jamal Crawford from driving. JJ contests the shot well, and since Marcus Thornton did force Jamal to go left, he missed. DeMarcus Cousins' box out wasn't enough to stop Chris Johnson from getting a tip.
FAULT: JJ Hickson. I don't really think this play qualifies as a real break down since the gameplan by Marcus Thornton was good, the contest by Hickson was good and the box out by Cousins was good, but it wouldn't have happened if JJ Hickson was closer to the basket in order to discourage the drive.
