[Game] Game 62: Sacramento Kings @ Atlanta Hawks, 3/9/15 - 4:30 pdt, 7:30 edt

Clearly, Malone is a future HOFer coach.... Because before Cuz went down, we were winning. :p

I expect us to be better next season under Karl though, he is a legit coaching talent.

Maybe a few roster moves as well. All we need is a starting PF, a backup PF, a backup C, a starting SG, a backup SG, a backup SF, and a few defensive role players.... After we get all those players, we're set!

Oh, and pace. We could always use more pace.

maybe by that time the Kings will be number one in the NBA with the longest playoff drought.

Style is of course an issue but what's as big of an issue for me is I can't think of a franchise who's had a player as dominant as Cuz, a top 3 big, and built around him this poorly. I've warned about something similar happening here as happened in Orl with D12 but they were far more successful in Orl than we are here.

And in thinking about dominant bigs over the last couple decades, from Hakeem to Barkley to Ewing to KG to Duncan to Shaq to Dirk to Webber and a number of others, I can't think of a GM and FO who's done such a s****y job in building around a dominant big. Memphis did better during Pau's and Marc's(still there obviously) time there, NO is doing better with Davis, Por doing better with Aldridge, and on and on. And our entire squad outside JT and Cuz himself was put together by our FO. Maloofs aren't an excuse for this.

Then we get to style of play.

The hope is an offseason with some player movement and a training camp with Karl can cover some of these issues but I'm of the opinion our ceiling is much lower than it should be due to the Mullin/PDA dynamic and possibly other dysfunction roaming our FO. Even if Karl wins 50 games next year I don't see us maximizing Cuz as long as the weasel is here which would be tragic as we're the luckiest team in the league to have had Cuz fall to us in the draft. Can go decades without that type of luck. Actually, there's teams where in their entire existence they haven't gotten a talent like Cuz. SMH.

Basketball IQ, we lack it.

Not only do the Hawks have the best record in the NBA they also got the hottest sideline reporter in Olivia Harlen, that team just stays winning.

I just can't believe how bad defensively the best athletes on this team are, it's really sad.

Damn, its hard to be a Kings fan. :(

It's all a part of the journey :) No it's not a lot of fun right now. It feels like we've had our own special dark cloud looming over us for a long long time. It's helpful to remember though that behind every dark cloud, the sun is shining just as brightly as it always has. The storm will pass and when it does we'll appreciate what it feels like to stand in the sun that much more. I know it's passing. It seems like it's been hovering over us forever, but I know it will eventually be gone.

Are you seriously questioning the undeniably radiant beauty that is Kayte Christensen?

Let me put you in your place

The Hawks basically blew their team up moving Johnson, smith, Bibby and that full ISO ball of a few years ago and they are now the best team in the east.

even the one team with a longer playoff drought than our own is looking up with developing wiggins.

I'm honestly not particularly excited about anything on this team, obviously I love cuz but I'm more certain that ever he won't fulfill his potential here.

In the FO's (including Petrie) defense, they have been talking about getting shooters year after year. Problem is they've still yet to find one despite their efforts.

I agree with KingMilz for sure. Kayte's cool but unnaturally augmented so I think that prevents her from being in the number one position ... that height tho. :D

I was fortunate enough to watch the 4th quarter while I ate some grub ... either Rudy Gay has mailed the season in or he doesn't like the new coaching staff because he has visibly checked out (I guess not a surprise).
The Kings are lacking some serious talent. Go Draft!

The entire train of thought that this conversation has descended to is stupid. Kayte Christensen is very, very good at her job; that is infinitely more important than whether any one person thinks she's attractive enough.

Stephanie Ready is also very knowledgeable, and she used to coach. She, Doris Burke and Kayte are pretty much in a class by themselves, as far as sideline reporting. And, like Kayte, Stephanie is also criminally underutilized as a sideline reporter.

The biggest difference between Kayte's situation and Stephanie's situation is that Dell Curry is not terrible. Aside from, of course, the obvious need to improve the product on floor, if Ranadive is actually interested in making "Basketball 3.0" more than just an idiotic catchphrase to be ridiculed and mocked, he should give Jerry a nice, cushy office with a meaningless title, next to Ty Corbin, and promote Kayte to color analyst. And, if it turns out that Napear doesn't have good chemistry with Christensen, Ranadive should get rid of him, too.
