Yeah we need to stop "stretching," period. Why would we stretch out future cap hits when we are below the cap now?
We are paying matt barnes, papa g, caron butler, etc into this upcoming year 2018-2019.

would have to be for another deal where we would need more cap spaceWhy would we stretch out future cap hits when we are below the cap now?
What is the point here?
Who freaking knows
It's not difficult, get a second round pick and save 1 million in cap space for a net negative contract.
Maybe we then waive Davis or Ben, maybe we keep them for now.
I’m not into cash grabs..,and a 21’ 2nd pick really doesn’t make it any more appealing imo
The cap space can be used to facilitate other deals, breaking contracts into two like this may also help facilitate a trade.
Anytime you can save cap and get a pick for a net negative contract, you do it.
you don't trade WCS because you get Davis. Memphis is actually short on big man depth, so them trading Davis away is very telling.I predict another move with Koufos and other (Skal) going out. Maybe a move involving WCS. Deyonta Davis is a young keeper.
You got Giles and Koufos and Davis who can play C, you got Bagley and Skal who can play PF if WCS was dealt. WCS has some value.you don't trade WCS because you get Davis. Memphis is actually short on big man depth, so them trading Davis away is very telling.

I've never been a Vlade apologist, but I have been critical of those who constantly are after his head. But I'll tell you what... If Vlade intends to have Ben on our roster this year, I will have no respect left for the big guy. So hopefully, if this trade is real, there has more to it than just the trade itself.

And how do you know he refused to be helped by VC? If it’s from fans I’m skeptical, if that came from VC then that is obviously telling."He's not good, he could potentially turn into something, but he rarely flashes."
"McLemore and Davis are so bad I don't see how this could be anything other than a win"
"He is trash and looks like he hates playing basketball. Virtually no improvement in two years and no desire for improvement. Good riddance."
All things said about Davis by Memphis fans. When VC was in Memphis, he offered to take Davis under his wing and the latter refused. The dude seems to legitimately hate basketball.
Should've specified.. CENTERS. Gasol is the only true C they have. JJJ is more of a PF as well. The other guys on the list are PFs.How?
Gasol
J Green
JJJ
Jarrell Martin
Rabb
then you can flex Anderson and Parsons down to small-ball PF. That's plenty of big man depth.
I'm not trying to hype Davis as some mega-steal or anything, but he did put up some nice numbers off the bench and is definitely worth a closer look for cheap.
Ben was a constant disappointment, so I make no apology for wanting him gone and to stay gone. I would like to think that Vlade is better at evaluating talent than to think these are two guys who could help the Kings. Unless the plan is to cut them both and we win by subtraction.Sheesh, you and some others really hate Ben to the point where him being on the roster causes you revulsion? Calm down. At worst, he's an end of the bench player and is probably going to be cut anyway.
All this is is getting rid of an expiring vet for a small return and opening the gates for Bogdan and Buddy. Temple on this team did more harm than good, honestly. I was hoping he'd opt out.

Cleveland has no incentive to help the Rockets get Hood. They're waaaaay over the cap and need a S&T. Would they Anderson and future 1sts for Hood?

Interesting take on the trade?
Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn
Cleveland has waived Kendrick Perkins, league sources tell ESPN
Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42
Kendrick Perkins had a $2.4M cap hit that was non-guaranteed. The Cavaliers now have 11 guaranteed contracts and 1 non-guaranteed, Okaro White. The $1.5M contract for White has $750K protection if the forward is not waived by August 5. Cleveland is now $14.3M below the tax with restricted free agent Rodney Hood still unsigned.

Did we not try?
And another opportunity gone by the wayside.
That's dirt-cheap for Marcus Smart and we had the ability to blow that offer out of the water. Perhaps the Celtics still match at 17-18 mil, but at least we put the pressure on them and don't let them get away with a steal of a price.
