Free agency coming July 1

Suggestion: We use this thread for rumors of possible FA's COMING to the Kings and use the IT rumor thread for rumors and discussion of possible offers for Isaiah.

Thanks. :)

Just to be clear (capn?) we have no capspace regardless of what IT does, or what we do with him, and, we can use the MLE to exceed. Can we use the MLE on more than one player? Is it the full MLE?

Yes, once Gay opted in, that eliminated the Kings' cap space. Penciling in Stauskas at around $3 million, they're already at something close to $70 million (the cap is something like $63) even before accounting for Thomas.

They can use the MLE ($5.3 million)--which can be split among players--but if they match/re-sign Thomas they may get over the luxury tax line ($77 million or so), which itself is not a terrible deal because teams can still find ways to wiggle back under the tax line before it actually counts (you only pay if you're over the limit at the end of the season). If you get over the "apron," however, which is $4 million above the tax line, your options in making moves become limited (link to Coon's CBA FAQ here). For example, if Thomas takes you up to the tax limit, you can't use the full MLE but only the taxpayer MLE ($3.2 million), because using the full MLE would take you over the "apron."

That's a major reason most of us were immediately negative about that Landry deal.

That's not exactly true. Even if they never signed Landry they still would not have cap space this summer; and even if there was no Landry and Williams they still would not have room beyond what the MLE would allow anyway. Swapping expirings for Gay eliminated the 2014 space, not these other moves.

Kings need to get as close as they can to the lux tax this season to field a competitive team. Next year a large chunk comes off the books, so they'll be ok even with a new IT contract or a replacement and resigning Gay.

I wonder if we'll be able to unload either Thompson or Landry at some point in the near future in a deal. Would love to sign some players this offseason.

Well Livingston is going to GSW. Wonder who the Kings next PG target is?
So he is going to come off bench for GSW instead of chance to start @ sacramento. Hmmmm and people wonder why we always say we needs trades and that we can't rely on free agents. We scrap the bottom of the barrel when it comes to free agents I.e. Carl Landry

Did you really want Livingston anyway? And how do you know we even made him an offer? Especially one better than 3/16

Like I have been saying about Livingston all along. His knees can not withstand starting full time. He knows he needs to limit his on court time to backup minutes to extend his career.

He can have a long, well paid career as a back up or a couple of years as a starter. Pretty easy choice, especially if contracts are similar.

Kings will need to overpay someone like Darren collison or match IT or do a sign & trade to get a point guard.

After losing Livingston, I'm in desperation mode!! IT's leaving!! We need Collison/Bledsoe now! S&T deals for Rondo or Lowry now!! At least get Patty Mills or Brandon Knight please!!!! We can't keep this kind of season record!!

Been saying Collison the whole time.... he makes a lot of sense. I could definitely see Mills happening too if he's into leaving SA.

I'm wondering if the Livingston move has anything to do with getting Kevin Love, maybe having Livingston as a replacement for Klay? This could open up a number of options where can maybe jump in as the 3rd team.

Maybe try snatch up Dieng somehow
