Yes, there is a Max's fried Chicken here in Sacramento. It's right off of Mack Rd. My girlfriend is Filipino and her family love the Chicken from there. Huge Filipino population here in Sacramento.

Tony Roma's was a fave of my out the area Grandpa.. whenever he'd come down that's where we'd to go.

Ate there once (that I can remember) and wasn't overly impressed at the time, but that was LONG ago.

Had some delicious Chinese food tonight at the Full Moon Palace in Galt.

The steakhouse on Riverside Blvd near Broadway, that pdxKingsFan couldn't recall, is the Riversiode Clubhouse. I've heard somwe good things about it, but haven't been there.

Love some of the places mentioned like Ettore's, Freeport Bakery, Vic's (shakes are to die for); Firehouse (haven't been there in ages); Tower Cafe is fun (I like to have brunch there); Rick's Dessert diner.

I generally don't go out to dinner in Sacramento much anymore, as I live in Yuba City now. Expensive :eek:, but very good when I've been are Slocum House in Fair Oaks and Biba's downtown. It's been quite awhile, tho. Another place I haven't been to in awhile is Rio City Cafe in Old Sac, becasue its nice to dine on the river, especially around sunset.
 
I don't think its the Riverside Clubhouse, place I'm thinking of is more old school, with a have-to-know-somebody to even know it's there vibe. Its dark and cozy, and I doubt they'd have an orange and pink webpage :) I think it has a person's name as it's name. *shrug* I should have asked my mom when she was in town this weekend.

hmmmm....I can't think of one. I'll have to look next week, as I drive down Riverside Blvd every few weeks or so. The Riverside Clubhouse was created within the last several years from an old restaurant used to actually have a steer up there over the sign. Funny, I can't remember what it was called, but it looked old and established when I moved to Sacramento in 1967. :D

I found the old name...Hereford House.

I think its actually on one of the lettered streets but honestly have no clue. If I'm not driving I usually am paying no attention :)

You know, I'm like that, too. I've often thought I should pay more attention, otherwise I'd be completely useless if an emergency came up. :o
 
So I'm thinking it's Jamie's on Broadway that I was thinking of, which was Shanley's at one point, which I should have known because Bill was a good family friend.
 
I love clam chowder, so I was wondering if anyone has found a good clam chowder. I've tried the clam chowder at Red Lobster and it was just ok.
 
I went to CF Cheng right by Arco Arena and man their chinese food is good. I ordered pot stickers, honey walnut shrimp and sweet/spicy eggplant and the food was real good.

Yeah, I have always liked PF Changs, however don't get to go there often. Lots of local joints have good chinese as well, so I don't make the pilgrimage there too often.

Its not PF changs. This place is called CF Cheng. I know the names could be easily mistaken. Anyways, this place is right by Mel's Diner.

Ah, sorry, thought that was a typo. :) Never heard of CF Cheng, but now I will watch for it.

CF Cheng is a really small place. It has about 6 tables that sit 4 people and 2 larger tables and that's it. Its a clean place. The owner is real nice. This place has 2 different menu - Americanize Chinese Menu and the Authentic Chinese menu. However, you need to ask for the Authentic Chinese menu otherwise, they are going to assume you want the Americanized Chinese Menu.

My suggestion is go for the Authentic menu because its really good.
 
I had claim chowder a couple of days ago at Freeport Bar and Grill and it was actually pretty good.

C'mon people, doesn't anyone eat out anymore? What are some of your suggestions on good food/restaurants.
 
I gotta throw some love for La Bonne Soupe Cafe on 8th between I and J. This place is simply amazing and is my favorite place to eat in Sacramento. The best sandwiches and soup you will ever have. Everything is always fresh and healthy. The entire cafe is operated by Daniel Pont - a renowned 70 year old French chef - who does everything in the cafe. He even prepares all the food while you watch!

Zagat's rated his French onion soup as the best in the world. The cafe also earned Zagat's top rating in Sacramento.

Be prepared to wait upwards of an hour in line though! It is best to show up early. I believe it closes after lunch around 2 pm. Prices are moderate.
