Yep, I officially miss Reggie now. He played the rookies more, and took Moore out of the starting lineup. Why we regressed in these areas is beyond me. The only explanation is that they have a masterplan of making highlight reels of vets for forthcoming trades.
I'd rather see the vets embarrassed.
You can't embarrass people with no pride whatsoever

Which is actually kind of my point. If they're going to give lackluster performances and act like they don't care, let them be out there to lose to the freaking Celtics.
Let the kids play when there's at least a chance of them being competitive. Let them learn without mimicking the Christians and the lions.
You think Natt will play the youngsters if the game is close? If the game is close you will see Moore in there for 40 minutes, and Hawes and Thompson in there for 5.

This is just confusing double talk.
Really? I understood exactly what I meant...
The idea to have Hawes coming off the bench was, most likely, rooted in his current slump. He did very well coming off the bench before, remember?
Kenny Natt is the INTERIM coach. You know, as in the guy who will take all the lumps for the rest of the season before we go out and get a real coach in TDOS.
Did I miss something? Are we a contending team that is supposed to be winning games right now?
Some of you really truly do not get the rebuilding concept. And, apparently, you've been watching a different team than I have because the team I've watched just isn't that good. Period.
The occasional win notwithstanding, this year's crop of Kings reminds me all too much of some of the really bad years. The only difference is that some of you didn't live through the bad years the first time around so you have no idea how long it can take or how truly painful it can be.
Accept them for what they are - a team in transition that has no identity, no real sense of team or self, and not much to look forward to the rest of the season except perhaps a very good draft pick and the termination of several contracts.
We aren't going to pull off one miracle trade that makes everything right again and we aren't going to start beating teams we shouldn't beat. Embrace the cold hard reality and you'll be a lot better off...
Again, you're looking at it in terms of potential wins/losses. I'm referring more to favorable match-ups. Being competitive doesn't mean winning. It means being able to compete without being so outmatched it's over before it begins...
This one I would sign on to...if I could think of any remotely reasonable option. No reason for the established coaches to want to come into this mess midseason, and we are fresh out of longtime NBA assistants with NBA experience.
This thread wouldn't be here is Natt would just play the youngsters... Since he feels the need to start and give Moore more minutes than all the young players combined in the first half he deserves this thread. If anyone that knows Natt personally would point him to this forum, please do so.
you say that some posters dont understand the rebuilding process? so are you saying that you honestly think that giving mikki moore the kids minutes is the way to go?
Exactly.
I would hazard that at least 80% of the people here understand that we need to rebuild and that while we rebuild it's going to be painful.
The frustration/fury/disbelief is in seeing players who have zero future with our team being played the majority of the meaningful minutes while our Future sits on the bench and watches the team get blown out.
The Kids are not being put into a position to win games and they are not being put into a position to lose games.
Period.
Instead they are being put into the game to either give the vets a few minutes rest or when the outcome of the game as already been decided. As a player if you know that you're only in the game to 'tred water' while the Vet rests, or are in the game because the games already been decided that is going to impact your ability to compete and grow.
I would rather our Future be in the games to win it or to lose it. At least that way we can gauge their competitiveness, and watch for opportunities for growth and see how they work together to try to achieve victory on the basketball court.
I know we can't win with the Vets.
I know we can't win with the Kids as they are now.
I want to see the Kids get the playing time to win or lose games and give them the experience they will need 2, 3, 4, 5 years down the line.
Yes, the kids need to play more but did you really want to see them play major minutes against the freaking Boston Celtics?
But most of all, I'm sick of hearing coaches talk about passing the ball and developing a post game and not have it happen. Your the damm coach! Do something about it. Talk is cheap. I want to see action
Yeah, I was (mis)fortunate enough to watch this one in person, and I continue to be positively mystified by the insistence on the coaches to play Miller and Moore so many minutes. It's not just playing vets at the expense of the young players in the hopes of being a little more competitive. Thompson and Hawes are BETTER than Miller and Moore. Right now. If you'd want to win, then Thompson and Hawes are going to give you a better shot at it. And that's even before you take into account that the Kings are, ya know, supposed to be rebuilding and playing the young players.
Now, maybe they're just trying to keep the locker room together or maybe they are trying to boost Miller/Moore's trade value. But I really don't get it.
Is Natt our coach until the end of the season?
