Shaq to Suns: MAN UP

http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/02/01/shaq-wants-the-suns-to-man-up/

In case we weren't getting the message, Shaq spelled it out for us.

"M-A-N, motherf-----g dash, U-P. Man up. Seriously. Nothing else to talk about. Excuse time is over ... We've torn the locker room up, had meetings, but there's nothing else to talk about. Everyone has to man up, you've got to play your guy, and we've got to do it as a team."

Bogut out with back stress fracture

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut will miss at least eight weeks with a stress fracture in his back.

Bogut

The former No. 1 overall pick went through a series of tests earlier this week that revealed the injury. Bogut will need exercise and rest, but no surgery is scheduled.
Bogut's injury is another blow to the Bucks, who are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference but have already lost leading scorer Michael Redd to a season-ending knee injury.
Bogut is averaging 11.7 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds, but started suffering back spasms after a game Dec. 17 against Philadelphia.
Bogut had missed 13 of the last 18 games, and played under 17 minutes in his last two games before missing Tuesday night's loss at New Jersey.

Well, I'm sure that laker fans will feel differently, but I think that 52/10/11/0/2 is a trifle more impressive than 61/0/3/0/1.

new NBATV upgrading its cast with mega sportscaster hottie Melanie Collins and Alonzo Mourning with his 15 minute segments on team defense

Perhaps, but Kobe's was being downgraded and rationalized by certain segments even before Bron's night. Bitterness.

Perhaps? No perhaps about it. ;) I heard this morning he missed a triple double by one assist or something, but still.......

Doesn't matter. Already established that Kobe's 61 was inferior to Jordan's 55.

Not possible to simply tip your hat to both players or not bring up a guy that has been retired since 98. Oh, well.

52/11/9 isn't bad either.....

NBA corrects stats, LeBron loses triple-double

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer 3 hours, 12 minutes ago

CLEVELAND (AP)—LeBron James never saw this steal coming.

Two days after Cleveland’s superstar recorded an apparent historic triple-double in a 107-102 win against the New York Knicks, the NBA stripped James of one of his 10 rebounds after reviewing game tape. The league said the rebound with 39.3 seconds left should have been credited to

Cavaliers center Ben Wallace, who tapped a loose ball that James grabbed.

Wallace finished with two rebounds but probably should have had more as several tip-outs were not scored as rebounds by the stats crew at Madison Square Garden.

Ok forget he even had the 44pt night. Why on earth does Milwaukee start Ridnour over Sessions? Is there a plausable explanation?

The Suns say they are more interested in Tyrus Thomas than they are Beasley. If that's the case, then I don't know what's stopping them from sending Amare to the Suns for Marion and Beasley, then sending Beasley to the Bulls for Thomas. The only thing I can think of is the Heat don't want to put up with Beasley and Rose for the next 15 years.

Anyone else catch Boston/Dallas on TNT? Great game. Paul Pierce comes up clutch again in big comeback. Celts have 9 straight wins on the road. Now have the best record in the NBA to end the 1st half.

Thank God, I would not have been able to stand a constant "Kobe Bryant of the NBA-leading Lakers" "from the best team in the league, the Lakers" "from the team with the best percentage, the Lakers" during the whole damn weekend. Go Boston.

Actually some bad news, TNT it seems was a little pre-mature in calling the Celts the best team in the NBA.. The Lakers are still 8 % points ahead of Boston.

So.. It looks like we might have to deal with the Laker worshipping throughout all star weekend.

Thank you for clarifying that. :) I knew that but wasn't going to get in a debate on here.

I won't be listening to any "Laker worship"...I don't watch All-Star weekend.

well TNT did correct themselves. When they came back from break they said the lakers actually have the best record percentage wise but Boston has the most wins in the league at 44. I judge it off of losses so I would say lakers have the best record. Besides, the lakers have swept the season series from both Boston an cleveland.

ESPN: Porter could be out by Monday

Well, despite all of the Suns threads around here lately ;), thought I'd post it here...

The future of Suns coach Terry Porter appears to be even shakier.

Throughout this uncomfortable weekend for the beleaguered hosts of the NBA All-Star Game, Porter has been subjected to non-stop speculation about his imminent dismissal, amid a growing belief around the league that Porter will no longer be coaching the team when the Suns reconvene Monday to prepare for the final 31 games of his first season.

Rest here..

Would be a shame, I still think he was one of our best assistants during his time here. And I think he does have a future as a Head Coach as well.

Oden has chipped bone in knee

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden has a chipped patella in his left knee, the latest setback in the former No. 1 overall draft pick's injury-plagued career.

Oden, 21, underwent and MRI on Saturday that revealed the injury. The 7-footer currently is resting in Indiana and will be re-evaluated Tuesday when he returns to Portland.

Oden's injured?? Wow, first time for everything..

Oden's agent: knee injury 'not serious'

With Greg Oden back home in Indiana during the All-Star break, his agent, Mike Conely Sr., told the Indianapolis Star the knee injury suffered last Thursday night in the loss to the Warriors is of the minor variety:

"I don't think it's that serious at all," Mike Conley Sr. said tonight. "He's going to rest it. After he hurt it (against Golden State) he went back in the game, and that's where I think the swelling came from.

"It's a game-by-game situation, but it's more precautionary than anything."

Following the Rookie Challenge game, Oden said he likely would have played if it were a regular-season game.

The Blazers play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Rose Garden Wednesday night.

I'm really glad he's ok. I was worried that it might have been more serious.
