Evans

I'm just repeating what others have said, but it bears saying again. Mo did a great job under stress. He is the most athletic player we have at the moment and he keeps his composure. He is a keeper. Work on that jumper and the ball handling over summer High Five!

(Given the propensity for marijuana use in the NBA, we may need to get another nickname for Mo).

I think Evans has shown enough stuff that he deserves to be in this league. Tonight he came out and got some "rookie" calls, which is total bull****, and he didn't budge an inch. This guy is a good player. For the first time in a long time I think the Kings have some young players in Kevin Martin and Mo Evans that will make an impact in this league...WHILE STILL WEARING A KINGS UNIFORM!!!! That would be a first. Usually we lose a lot of young talent. Damon Jones, Gerald Wallace, and apparently Jerome "King" James.

I was also very happy with how Mo handled himself on those calls. They were bad.

Keep Mo

I really hope Cuttino exercises his option and we can waive goodbye. I'd be very comfortable with Mo starting at SG. He has the physical tools, the heart, and the maturity to have a breakout season next year. He's aIso coachable, unlike Mobley. I especially liked hearing Mo's comments about poor offciating a few months ago, when he talked about players losing their composure and hurting the team by throwing tantrums. Find a real PF to go w/Mo, Mike, Brad, and Peja and we'll be a tough out next year. jmho :)

Guys, in case you did not know I think Mo Evans is a free agent this summer -- remember we didn't intend for him to even make the team, he was just a camp invite who outperformed Bluthenal and Ricky in preseason. So we can't really count on him to even be on the squad next year. Not up to us.

You're right, Brick. I just hope Petrie makes it clear to Mo that he is wanted back next season and get's him signed before the other teams start calling.

hes not a rookie. he needs help on offense badly! i always see him standing at the corner 3 spot........ but hes definetly a keeper! with some help he can become a really good player

i don't think he needs that much work. he is a good shooter. but when he goes up for dunks he exposes the ball to much making it easier for ppl to block it. he needs to know how to move the ball around in the air to avoid that. he's been blocked quite a few times trying to dunk. another thing is i never see him taking ppl off the dribble and penatrating. i understand that is not the style of offense so i don't know how good he is at that. he is good in the open court thou and can rebound very well.

I think there is a consensus: Kings Fans love Mo!

He's a stud, and definitely a keeper. Hopefully GP will do whatever it takes to re-sign him.

his teammates call him

"Thunder"

i really hope geoff can find a way to re-sign him. he was a great addition to the kings this year, and i think he can improve.

keep him a king!

It really shouldn't be that hard to resign Mo. The bottom line is that he should be cheaper than any other options on the market due to lack of experience. Unless he's packaged in a trade, then there really isn't any excuse for the Kings not resigning Mo outside of being cheap!

I'll probably get killed for this, but as much as I like Mo, too--particularly for his hustle and the general excitement his althleticism brings to the game--I don't think he's that much of a keeper. He is at best a "project" - inconsistent shooter, doesn't have great hands which limits what he can do with his jumping ability, not a real good one-on-one isolation player, and doesn't see the floor that well. He's an NBA caliber player, for sure, and I see him being productive in limited minutes as a role player (probably behind B-Jack), but I'd move him in a package that would bring us a centerpiece to round out our core.

No, I agree that's he's really pretty much a roleplayer -- can't create on his own and is not really a particularly strong ballhandler. But he could be a very nice roleplayer. The problem is the damned inconsistency -- makes it hard to know how much to value him. When he's on, he can really help. but when he's off he just entirely disappears and puts up numbers like Ira Newble's less talented brother. Still like to see him back, but there's just a limit to how high I would go. Something like what we offered Darius last year maybe (about $2 mil/yr for 2 years with the secnd year a player option).

BTW, since he's a FA we can't move him in a package anywhere -- not ours to move.

He looked pretty good to me in the biggest game of the year with the season on the line.

As a...dum dum dum...roleplayer.

Classic roleplayer really -- defend, hit the open shot. Don't create for yourself or your teammates. Don't force. Just go out there and play within yourself and try to help with the dirty work and be in the right place at the right time.

Isn't that what this team needs; defense??? He did the best job he could possibly do on Allen, better than Mobley or Jackson. Isn't it really so bad that he can't create for himself when everyone complains that Mobley keeps reverting back to one on one ball? Besides, Evans showed some good flashes with his explosive drives to the basket. Those drives can be surprisingly effective in getting easy baskets and getting to the line. Miller does the same thing, I think defenders are surprised the he's even attempting it and Evans is just a tad bit quicker than Miller :).

Basically Evans has alot of skills that can be developed and refined to help him play a major role on the Kings for years to come. He should definately be resigned.

Every team needs role players who can, if absolutely necessary, fill in as starters for short periods. I think Mo fits the role (hey, that rhymes-kinda! :D )

I think he likes it here and I certainly hope he's picked up. I would absolutely HATE for him to become another Damon Jones somewhere else...

He's young; he's got the right attitude and outlook; he's got talents; he's exciting to watch.

We NEED players like Mo Evans on our team, even if they never reach all-star or even starter status.

He worked out last summer with the Spurs team and sure said nice things about them. Hope they don't want him! I want him as a King! Marty's column today said he was a restricted free agent, which I didn't know. I thought he was a FA.

Damon Jones: Well having Shaq does give good perimeter shooters lots of opportunity! Didn't we pick him up mid-season to replace an injured BJax? I assume he was let go, because the Kings assumed Bobby would be back. Grant keeps saying Bobby hasn't played for 2 years (partial), but it's 3: Shaq-smote hand; groin; wrist *sigh*. Poor Bobby.

If he's a restricted agent, I certainly hope Petrie matches any offer he gets because I think he's worth keeping and I especially hope he matches any offer that comes from another team in the West. I certainly wouldn't want the Kings to have to play against him in our own division.

Damon was expendable because of the reasons you've stated. He was finally able to find a team that needed him and was able to find a way to utilize him better than we could have under existing conditions.

Right now, I think we need to keep some of our role-players around, and I have every hope High Five will be on the court next year in a Kings uniform.

Yeah! Cause he'd probably have his career game against the Kings next year and look like the second coming of MJ. ;) I really would like to see him back, too. Let's all join hands and beam the message to GP.
