ESPN: Shopping season begins in the NBA (merged)

With the record the Kings have, contract situations, etc. I think it is pretty clear to me that some sort of move will be made in the next week or so. I just hope it isn't Brian Skinner for another softie.

As for Peja. I think a lot of us undervalue his talent. We have always had an abundance of scorers so we tend to think that he is worthless. To us, he may be in some ways, but there are plenty of teams that would give him 24 shots a game. He may be better as a volume shooter where the offense is based around him. Kinda like it was in his near MVP year.

Exactly. Skinner should be untouchable :p

Kidding of course.

From what I've heard from NBA Shootaround/Sportscenter is that Artest does not want to go West, but if he does he will play for the rest of the season then go back East. I don't think we're going for a championship run this year as I see it, so I think we gotta look at Deng if the Bulls are willing to get rid of him.

Deng was a beast in college, I watched him in the Final Four, and he's been solid for the Bulls. We definately need a guy like him to play defense, rebound from the three consistantly. I'm hoping Petrie pulls the trigger with Peja for Deng, Peja is very inconsistant and really hasn't been the star player we were hoping he would be, at least not consistantly.

Peja for Deng hopefully will start and lead the new Kings back to where we belong the Pacific Champs in the WCF and then The NBA Finals! It may take some time, but it would look a lot better with some youth.

Guys, Artest can NOT go back east after this season! He's got a contract until 2009. He's stuck whereever he gets traded too for years to come.

Well, there are ways to make people WANT to get rid of you. I think Ron may have a good grasp of that concept now. ;)

I think he can he did a good job of getting traded from the Bulls and Pacers. Remember the headache stunt he pulled in Chicago people seemed to forget how bad and messed up he really is. The only reason he is still in the league is his talent or else he would of suffer the same fate Rider did.

And getting traded is what? A disaster? Who cares -- he wants to be traded AFTER some season. Let's do it. We still get pieces. And that's worse case.

The myth, I think intentionally distributed by those uninterested in Ron showing up, is that he can somehow magically walk away to the East Coast at the end of the season. Sorry, but that's the other SF potentially involved in the deal.

True. But if he does something to us, NOBODY will trade for him. He will be done in the NBA and we have to eat the rest of his deal and lose Peja or maybe even Bonzi (GOD NO!!!!! Please not Bonzi!!!! sorry, brief freakout) for nothing.

Then again Bonzi + Ron is just nasty. Just plain NASTY. In a good way. If we get a shotblocker we are the baddest team in the league.

If Artest wants out of Sac, Isiah will cut his left n*t off to bring him to New York. If he already hasn't to try and get him this time.

I am a big Pedja fan. I watched almost every Bulls game in the last two years (unless it is overlapping with Kings games). Deng is already better then Pedja. He is deceptively athletic. 6'10'' with good hops. Developing a very nice jumper. Hustler and diver. Has no confidence issues (missed a game tying 3pt last night in dying seconds when play that was drawn for Heinrich was broken). He had a nice streak of 20-10 games broken last night, so he is still incosistent due to the lack of expirience. As the character goes, this guy is solid gold. Will be a perenial all star. Can play (and defend) 2, 3 and some 4.

If Bulls send him to Sacramento for Pedja, Petrie will be genius again and Paxson will start his way towards the exit door.
I've been wanting this guy since last year(as I've stated in MANY posts before;) ), Deng is a bigger version of Doug Christie,(plays with the same heart) with more potential offensively, and versitile as hell, in a nutshell...he hasnt even begun to develope to his full potential. I want this guy more than Artest. If Artest falls into our lap, I wont complain of course, but Deng is SOOO much better for the LONG term of our franchise.

I think you rather badly overestimate Zeke. Beleive me, nobody in these parts does. Exhibit #1 went on sale at midnight -- $30mil of Jreome James anyone? Anyone??

Well I would blame Brad Miller for that one. ;)

Wrong - Artest said he'd go anywhere:

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/38290/20051213/walsh_on_artest_he_said_hed_go_anywhere/

That's the last said on that.

Also, Tim Legler said (during half-time of Rockets/Warriors) Artest will go to the west because the Pacers don't want to run into him in the playoffs. Which is a good point.

Peja for Deng would be awesome too. :)

As far as shopping day goes, it's 3:22 pm PST and NOTHING has happend. I guess this shopping day will be like last years, boring. I thought for sure there would be some trades by now... at least some bench movement from some teams, but nothing...

i would attach KT to Peja's left hip and send them both packing. How about Deng and Ben Gordon? I doubt the Knicks would give up Frye but perhaps Jamal Crawford and David Lee in a three way with Indiana.
I will take em. Because in Ben, we can have someone to score in the 4th

I briefly dated a guy named Guy, but he had crappy taste in music.

And, of course, his name was Guy. That's a deal breaker right there.

You'd think that being named Guy would lend itself to the development of a crappy musical taste to begin with.

But still, you gotta feel bad for the guy. (ba-dum)
