ESPN gives 'Reke no votes for ROY

the article was dead on about curry and thats why they gave him the vote over evans... he is a gunner on a team that does nothing but jack up shots. he couldnt have gone to a better team to fit his style of play other than maybe the knicks i guess.

evans really have a defined role on this team.

Wow. This is completely made up and voted on by ESPN staff... nice work BSPN on creating completely biased news out of nothing.

Curry's problem will be staying out of Nellie's doghouse. As for ROY, its all just subjective crap at this point. If your lucky enough to get picked by a team thats going to play you a lot, you've got a legit shot at it. On the other hand its hard to win it if your stuck on the bench behind a Kobe or a Wade etc. Perhaps even a Martin.....

Heheheheh.

So let's review...TDOS is so bad we're actually debating the insult implied with our first round draft pick not being selected for ROY in August?

Will November ever get here? I think someone missed a real bet in the Pain and Misery draft. There should have been one pick of "forever TDOS"...

smh at curry and james harden receiving more votes for this seriously bspn is so ****ed up it's not even funny

Yeah, so he's a gunner on a team full of gunners, with only one ball and only 48 minutes, plus a coach that doesn't historically get along with rookies. How does that match up?

I think you nailed it... ESPN's draft page has Evans listed as a SG, Chad Ford thought he was a questionable fit for our roster, and Bill Simmons thought he was a HORRIBLE fit for our roster ("I feel physically ill... Shaking my head... That pick was a natural disaster."). Only Jay Bilas seemed positive about the pick at all. So I'm not very surprised.

I would be more concerned if the voting wasn't pretty much just a one man wipeout. But with 43 for one guy, then 3, 2, 2, 1, and 1, Reke being one of those 3,2,2,1 and 1 guys is probably all for which you can really ask.

Wow! Bill Simmons is an @$$. Somebody is going to be eating a lot of crow.

He didn't say anything half of the posters here were saying. Much of the basketball world thinks the Kings messed up by passing on Rubio. Maybe they did; time will tell. I like what we did, personally, but Simmons isn't the only one dogging the Kings for taking Evans.

*wipes *** with ESPN ROY votes*

and Blake Griffin ROY? Its the freaking Clippers we all know once you go to the Clippers your career is over

Doesnt surprise me. The Kings could draft the consensus #1 best player and espn would still find something negative to say. Where as my least favorite team can pick luke walton and be praised for it. ESPN columnists can sniff my unmentionables.

He's the concensus #1 player in the draft. I don't believe in curses; I do believe in "Mike Dunleavy is not a good executive", but he drafted the best player available, then made a spot for him in the starting lineup, and has added some serious talent to that team in the past three years. Blake Griffin is not a long shot to win ROY. Evans is.

I beg to differ. Id say without any bias that Evans is second in line for ROY honors. Who would you say is ahead of Evans at this point other than Griffin?

I take solace in the fact they trashed Beaubois and dude looks to be a heckuva baller.

who cares if he's second? when the guy in the lead has a 43-3 edge, that's called a long shot.

I would have to agree in saying that evans should have the 2nd best shot at it (at this point it would seem impossible to overcome the griffen hype.) In part due to his overall talent level, but no doubt about it he will be given the ability to rack up his ppg, although lets hope he racks up the assists as well as the current plan suggests. You really couldn't count out a guy like james harden and maybe even flynn to some extent as well. I just can't wait to see the Evans-Martin experiment.

Without reading the article, This seems right to me. Griffin should have gotten 100% of the votes anyways. Even if its not him, you cant tell me he isnt the favorite... The only reason I can see someone really predicting someone other then him is just trying to be ' that guy '.

yeah, rookie of the year is blake's to lose.... even if the clippers fail miserably griffin will have every chance in the world to prove how good he is. there really isnt a rookie in the nba with that kinda job security. if evans falters he has sergio, beno and martin in front of him. if blake has a bad week there isnt anyone to take his spot. the warriors have tons of guards if curry slips up. flynn is the only rookie i can think of without any competition at his spot unless rubio somehow makes it this season.

does anyone here think that evans actually stands a chance at winning rookie of the year? short of an all-star performance from tyreke i just dont see it happening unless griffin gets injured on opening night. if he plays well for more than a month he has it. just like we all knew that he would be picked 1st, he will win ROY short of a total meltdown or a kobe/lebron-esque performance from evans.

It would have to be Flynn imo. If Rubio doesn't come over this year Flynn will get 30+ mpg easy. Evans will get a lot of minutes too but what can Evans do to try to fit into the Kings style of play? He's not going to score the most points, and probably not get the most assists or rebounds. He may get a lot of steals... I would put Evans at 3rd or 4th on my list behind Flynn, Griffin, and possibly Harden. I don't think Curry belongs on that list at all. I forsee 9ppg 2rpg 2apg from Curry

This is ESPN folks. The same group of experts that thought The Dallas Cowboys were going to be the best potential team to win the super bowl last year. Most of these analysts are wrong by mid year anyway. Lets let the season speak for itself. Tyreke wont disapoint. Im happy with Evans, and Im a guy that wanted Flynn. I like Flynn's maturity and sense of controlling the ball like a seasoned point guard, but Evans has more physical talent, more star potential and we need a star potential player on our team.

You cant base Evans being a longshot on what a bunch of colunmists say in august. I like Flynn just as much as the next person, but i think in the NBA Tyreke has the ability to produce more. The ROY is usually the guy with the best numbers. In my opinion Evans doesnt have much to compete against for minutes and it looks as though he'll have the ball quite often. With his ability to get to the basket id say Evans has a fair shot at ROY. Id say its Between Griffin and Evans. I dont see any other rookies seperating themselves enough for consideration unless Thabeet is the next Mutumbo.
P.S.- The players dont fit into the system. The coaching staff fits a system around the players.
