if this guy can get some playing time im telling u he can be a force with his athleticism. he can drive and rebound.especially with jackson hurt mo can get some playin time and he can show us what hes really made of

Oh ya, that was sick, I hope Adelman uses Evans in place of Barnes, Evans just brings that Athleticism we need, plus hes not a bad shooter at all.

Evans is too small to the play the 3. At 6'5", he would be a defensive liability. Plus the type of player he is makes him totally different from Matty Barnes. Barnes is a utility type of player, like Shane Battier. Every team needs a utility type of player. Evans is a hardnosed scorer and hustler, perfect as a quick bench scoring option. I see Evans like a stronger Lucious Harris with less scoring ability. The odd man out really is Kevin Martin. It's ironic that they compare Martin with Christie, because Martin is no where near Christie in terms of handling the ball. Often times players get trapped in the backcourt and the opposing point guard will smother Bibby so he doesn't get the ball, so the players almost always look for Christie. For Martin to have a role on this team, he's going to have to learn to be more of a playmaker and play less off the ball.

That's even more pessimistic than usual, piksi... What's the matter with Mo Evans? (I ask with some degree of hesitation...)

Evans is part of the bench. Last night, he came in and played - and made a decent showing. That's why he's here...

As far as Kevin goes, he's a rookie. He's compared to Christie because there are a lot of similarities between Kevin and Doug back when Doug was his age. (Even DC has commented on it, BTW...) I definitely agree that Martin has things to learn. Luckily for him, for us, AND for the Kings, he's learning from Doug Christie himself.

I'm starting to believe that piksi has this pre-ordained list of players in the NBA that he thinks are good, and that any player not on his list (or any player he hasn't heard of) is, in his mind, a scrub.

I just said that it would be sad if we would depend on him (15 minutes per night minimum). He can play for coiple minutes here and there but nothing important.
Flash has talent but not the body for NBA at the moment. Other coaches would still give him more minutes here and there. RA generaly does not "do" rookies.

Evans has a little more age and expecirece from his year in the CBA than a lot of rookies do..I will not be up set to see him get extened min or even a start against al ot of teams.

Been a while since we had one. A real one I mean.

Actually unless I am missing someone I think we have only had 4 1st round picks in the Adelman era before Martin right?

'98 JWill: 36.1min as rookie
'98 Peja: 24.1min as rookie
'00 Hedo: 16.8min as rookie
'01 GWall: 8.0min as rookie
'04 KMart: 3.9min as rookie

Steadily declining minutes, with several possible explanations. 1) Rick has changed. 2) the team and its goals have changed; 3) overall talent level and talent at positions ahead of the rooks; 4) rooks have been drafted later and later in the draft. No longer lottery picks.

I like Evans... It's exciting to watch when he is on the court... He can't shoot all that well, but I love having a guy on the floor that can throw one down on somebody. It makes you think something spectacular might happen every play.

eh. kevin martin can play the game well enough. he has two big problems to deal with, tho. and its not RA, for those of you who insist RA doesnt play rookies. his first problem, and biggest, imo, is that he is such a little guy. the second is the fact that he's got the rookie jitters when he gets out on the court. now, both these problems can be solved. he needs to hit the weight room a whole lot between now and next season to start. he just gets pushed around out there when he's on defense, and thats kindofa big drawback. as for rookie jitters, he'll get over them eventually. i look forward to seeing this kid play in a coupla years, when it will probably make more sense to liken him to doug christie.

i like him, too. i would like to see him play more. not significant minutes, but i'd like to see him out there more often, or at least when mismatches permit, cuz he's not really big enough to stick in at SF. he is a very exciting player, especially when he's out there with the vets. he brings that athletic factor that we are lacking, and that most teams are exploiting. mo evans is the kinda guy ya can bring in to shake things up, and make the defense regret playing him soft. he's also a halfway decent defender himself. more minutes please!!! just a couple!

sprewell whose 6'5 plays the 3 just fine...

Evans is GW without all the hype and potentially high ceiling, so for him to get spot minutes here and there is no big deal b/c no one is expecting the Kings to develop him into a viable NBA player (whereas that was clearly the expectation with GW).

Actually...not really. He was always undersized there and did not match up well on most nights. Just was no choice becuase Allan Houston is impossibly soft and had to be the OG. In Minnesota Hassel or Wally do the SF duties, and he's back to OG where he belongs.

In any case, Mo Evans is a borderline NBA talent as an OG. Playing him out of position on top of that would be really stretching it. Its one thing to say what the hell and plug an All-Star caliber OG in as your SF -- not ideal, but he's still a heck of a player and perhaps a better option than a scrub SF. Quite another thing to plug in a guy who's barely in the league as an OG into a position that does not suit him. Out of position scrub = not good.

It's really hard to judge a player when all he gets are garbage minutes with an unorthodox group of fellow bench-enders. (I refuse to call them scrubs...) I think there's a lot of potential in Flash. He's got a great attitude, and he's learning a lot from the veterans on the team. I, too, (along with his biggest fan Kingsgurl) am sure he's going to be someone to sit up and watch in a couple of years.

:D

Couldnt agree more. Good point...I've brought this up in the last 234 hours with friends, too. I think that Mo will be thrown into the fire with the quickness with this injury to Bobby. Mo's been around the block a few times( in the ABA/NBDL, plus 10 games with the T-Wolves back in '01.) So its not like we're throwing a true 'rook' into the fold. He is 26 yrs old.

I can tell by his play already in the second half that he will be able to help us, just by his hustle on the boards and running the floor. He saved about three offensive rebounds for us, just by keeping it alive sorry Barnes but its Evans time!!!!:):):)

I liked what I seen from MO tonight. When someone goes down usually someone steps up and this may be the case here. Gotta give it a few more games but he looks pretty solid so far
