Seriously, there is a Pink Floyd album for everyone. You just have to find it. My guess is GGG would like Meddle or maybe A Nice Pair. At least some of the tracks.
I've liked a song here and there, but just haven't ever really gotten into the band. Similar situation with Led Zepplin and The Who -- in all three cases, I can appreciate what's good and can understand why they're liked by others, but I just have never found that thing that really grabs me.
Okay, you can understand why people like something, or even consider it to be great, and still think it sucks. I think The Godfather is unwatchable, but I grok why other people like it.

I disagree with that. If you believe something to suck, then how could you see any good it in at all? I guess we all have completely different definitions of what "sucks".

Sorry you were so bothered by my initial comment about Pink Floyd. It was meant as a tounge-in-cheek exaggeration, and (I thought) quite obviously so.
I'm not sure if you saw my first reply, but I realized you were attempting to slide your comment off as a joke. We've all done it in real life and in text: the sarcasm or the jokey tone to pass something off that you really mean. Don't worry about me being bothered either, I'm not even the hugest Floyd fan (I only listened to The Wall completely in its entirely last night) I just saw it hadn't been taken and had to grab it. Just though the comment was a tad out of place.
I don't like squid. In fact, I think it's terrible. But I understand different people have different tastes. Music is the same way. FTR, I don't think Floyd sucks, but it's certainly an acquired taste.

Oh hell yeah; my favorite author. Since I got out of high school, the only books that I've read that weren't textbooks or tech manuals were either written by Douglas Adams or Robert Heinlein.
You can do a youtube search for Led Zeppelin and plagiarism and quite a few hits will come up. Some are more blatant than others, I think the most alarming thing is that they took full writing credits for the tunes that are obvious covers and often didn't even credit the original writers or pay royalties until getting sued.
Interesting...I had absolutely no idea about this. I love music, but I don't follow it closely enough to be aware of this kind of thing. I still love 'em, but I'll spread the love to some of the originators of their tunes...
I stand by Led Zeppelin IV being a kick-a** album, though...

You probably wouldn't really recognize the orignal tunes -- as is often the case with these things the treatment given it by the infringer was vastly superior to the original (not to mention typically rewriting all the guitar licks), which otherwise would be completely lost to time by now. Not acknowledging the sourse or cutting them in on the profits was the larger issue.

That really is a matter of taste, wouldn't you say? Different audiences, different times.

Personally, I like that better. Sorry to derail things
The Killers - Sams Town (2006)
Surprised this one isn't gone. Not my favourite band, but alot of good songs on this. Good value pick. Are the Killers big in the US? I take it they're not, since nobody seems to have them on their list.

They are well known, and I have both Mr. Brightside and When You Were Young in the main rotation on my Ipod. But very few albums of such recent vintage have gone so far in this thing.
There's one album I've left off my list because I was certain it would be taken, and I'm frankly kind of annoyed that it still hasn't been. There aren't any albums that I want to get rid of from the rest of my list, but I may have to rethink that if this one lasts much longer.
Man, I think a motion might be in order to ask one kindly person (or persons) to volunteer their services as anonymous proxy, and then have everyone send their next pick to that person if it's within three picks of it being their turn, and they think they might not be around.
Right now we've got one person holding up all three drafts...
