Darko MIlicic vs. Flip Saunders

frankie

Prospect
Is it true that Darko is having trouble with Flip? I read something in some Serbian paper. Could this be a chance for us to snatch Darko? I think he might be exactly what we need. Another guy we might be able to get if we are willing to give up one of the core guys is Chris Bosch.

We seem to have a team where pretty much every single guy except maybe Garcia and SAR is on a trading block. Hopefully, GP can take advantage of that.

Bonzi's not.

I'd love to get Bosh or Deng. Milicic? I'd say so.

i'm not sure how i feel about darko now. if we had somehow gotten him in the offseason, that would have been sweet, but now its very obvious that the kings need to completely rebuild. i'd feel comfortable with the futures of guys like bosh or deng--they're clearly going somewhere in the nba. darko's still a bit of an enigma, tho. worth the risk if you don't have to give up much to get him, but otherwise, i might just pass on him, as crazy as it sounds...

I was in favor of exploring the Darko option in the offseason, still would be. But it is a cautionary tale -- 3 years now, still pinned, wants PT. Could we give it to him? Is he for real?

My position just is -- why not? What doi we have to lose? Could turn out great. And unless they are looking for one of our top guys who could be traded for something more, not like we'd be loosing a major piece to anything. (actually what would that team possibly be looking for? Backup PG? Return of Corliss? They look pretty deep and pretty set to me.

good point. nothing's really working out for this kings team, anyways. why the hell not? i'll buy that. no reason for detroit to do it, tho. not with the kings, at least. they're still rockin and rollin.

Lets look at what Darko has to offer?

From what I have seen from him here is his strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths: Is an excellent shot blocker, is a great passer, has range in his shot, is very very quick and athletic.

Weaknesses: not a good rebounder, not great working down low, Does not look comfortable on the floor. Sometimes is lost in the game. Is still not consistent when playing, has a little bit of attitude problem. Has very low confidence. Not easily manageable. Is not a scorer and is limited on the offensive side.

I think a change of teams would do himself some good. I think with his offensive skill set (his court vision and his shot) he would be a perfect fit for our type of offense. His inside presence on defense would be a great plus on this team. One of the major concerns is his rebounding but that could be improved as he gets more time on the floor

Well there is no reason to have a guy on the bench that's not happy being there. On top of that, if the rumor is true and they aren't getting what they want out of him in his third year (10-15min of rebounding, shotblocking and hussle), they might be willing to trade. I am sure someone like Skinner would be a good match to their needs at the moment (10-15min of rebounding, shotblocking and hussle). I don't think Skinner is a bad offensive player, but he's not a good match for Kings offense. Darko can shoot the ball better then Brian which makes him a good match for us. I am not saying he'll develope into an allstar, but I think we can get 10p, 5reb out of him on a nightly basis. Plus he'd be able to clog the lane better than anyone on our current roster. I haven't check the salaries but I think Skinner for Darko+2nd round pick might be feasable.

Chris Bosch trade might work if GP is willing to give up Peja.

All of the flaws that you mentioned are really not flaws but come from the lack of playing time. Once given that, he should set himself into his true basketball identity. Is he below average NBA player? Probably, but lets find that out by giving him some playing time.

Darko would rock the league in Sactown, a good fit IMO

He might, especially if we keep the same system.

Still don't even really know where to begin though as far as making a deal with the Pistons. We already gave them their backup 2/3. They have Dale Davis around as big man insurance, behind a potent an already trio. Arroyo is better than anybody we could possibly offer as a backup PG....if Atlanta was really offering Harrington for Darko, how could we match that? Maybe a Skinner/Martin (as Rip understudy) or more ideally for us Corliss/Martin (with Corliss back for old times sake as a proven SF/scoring + as a strong lockerroom guy). Would work for us. But for the Pistons??

The thing good for us making a deal is that their bench is not producing. Maybe trading Martin and Skinner might peak their interest.

Good point. COme to think of it, why don't you guys just wait till Darko is a FA? No need to make Detroit any better. ;)

oh my...BWallace,KG,TPrince,Hamilton,Billups..detroit line-up would be just plain awesome! KG's sure to have his ring then.

hoping to get Darko in Kings though...
