At the same time, I don't think a Beno/Evans backcourt would work in the long run. You lose the massive Evans versus mere mortal PG advantage as the other team puts their SG on him and Beno is often a liability on defense. IMHO, Beno is better as a 6th man off the bench.
I agree. I'm anxious to see Evans/Martin given a chance with Beno off the bench for a change up. I like the energy Beno can bring.

Actually, it was the way too quick "blindly loyal" comment that gave you away. :D
Well, despite that not making any sense at all, we'll see what the season end record winds up being. I sincerely hope my fears are unfounded and the team turns things around. You go on cheering pathetic efforts like tonight since you're such a good fan.

A bench of Beno, Cisco, Donte/Casspi (depending on who starts), with the occasional helping of Brocktipus is pretty darn explosive and Sergio and Noce could potentially stop sucking soon to give us a pretty good bench. Just missing that defensive big!

I still see glimpses of hope from JT and Hawes. It takes longer for big men to get good in the NBA. And maybe Brockman will hang around.

I'm not saying they won't. We just need an extra legit big body on our bench that can contribute because Brock is a legit bigman in the body of a overweight SG and KT is, well, just a SG pretending to be a PF. I'd be remiss to neglect Sean May who is a fat guy pretending to play basketball.

Yeah, May is a disappointment. I'd love to get a veteran big guy but I'm not sure we'd get one better than Kenny Thomas. And we know how that worked out.

Teams just don't go around trading away good quality big men.

Petrie took a chance. It obviously didn't work out but it's not going to hurt us in the long run.

He had butter fingers tonight.

Casspi is the best player on the team right now, and as much as I love Omri I am not sure it's a good thing.
Casspi has really been impressive lately. He's smart, he plays hard, he plays good defense and he's fearless. Not to mention his shooting. All great qualities.

Perhaps GP can pull a Gasol and get us Dwight Howard for Sean May and some beef jerky (which hopefully May won't eat on his way over there...). Is there any former King in Orlando these days?

btw, I wouldn't throw in a second round draft pick with that trade. GP can probably draft the next Scottie Pippen in pick #49.

I was thinking more along the lines of Noce and Kenny Thomas and some belly button lint for Howard and Gortat and their next five first round picks.

Is it possible to get into offense slower than Evans??? He is not even walking, damn! Like we are 20 ahead and not Mavs!
I got to admit, it was getting annoying how he would just barely walk up the court. Everyone in my section (101) kept yelling almost on every possession to get into the offense quicker. It was taking 14, 15 or 16 seconds off the shot clock before he finally either drive to the basket or pass the ball. I know he's probably pretty rusty, but man, it was not only annoying, it was actually a little boring. Hopefully, by the Suns game, he will be back to normal.

If I have a concern about Reke at this point, it's that...he just doesn't seem to bring the ball up with the quickness I see when he's not on the court. But it's not anything I'm really worried about...at this point. I will admit, however, that I was yelling pretty much the same way at my TV set. Apparently he didn't hear any of us.

Now I do think he should bring it up fastr on many occasions, and I do think Westphal wants him to bring it up quicker, but that style is also called "walking it up" and has won a whole boatload of games in the NBA. Bringing it up slow is only a problem if that's not the gameplan. Halfcourt teams normally win the big stuff in the NBA, and many if not most halfcourt teams like to slow the game and walk it up. Used to be some little squirt in Utah that would do it damn near every play. John something?

Yea, except that when you're down 12 with 3 minutes to go, perhaps that is not the best basketball strategy?...

He doen't need to bring it up full speed, but taking that much time off the clock reduces the amount of time you have to run said half-court offense, which isn't the brightest idea.

Ok then I believe a better term would have been "most productive". I'm sorry but the impression I get is if Sasha Vujacic puts up like 20 points for 5 games while Kobe doesnt play well and you say he's the best player on the Lakers. Omri is of course, far better than vujacic

OK, you could say that. It's purely semantics eventually. :)

Walking it up works if you immediately can get into your offense once you've crossed the line. Right now, I think Evans is eons away from being compared to John Stockton. And we don't have a Malone... And, for that matter, we aren't a half-court team yet. In fact, I'm not sure what kind of team we are. All I know without a shadow of a doubt is it's a lot easier to get your offense going if you've got more than 10 seconds left on the clock by the time the point guard decides what he wants to do...
