Craig Sagers is a punk

I seriously think that a note to his employer and maybe one to him is in order. I plan to do it. It was wrong. Wall's expression tells it all.

Did he say anything that was untrue? No. He's a reporter. DMC needs to grow up if he doesn't want to hear things like that. I'm tired of all the coddling that professional athletes get....

True, but there's a time and a place. It certainly wasn't very professional of him, that's for sure.

Yeah, it's not like he was making anything up and he kind of said in a joking manner. Big whoop, if Cousins does the crime he's got to put up with the perception that goes along with it.

May have been true, but still no reason to say it like that. Why take a dig at a guy in that situation? "Well documented" may be a stretch too. Sure he got into with Donte, but that was one occasion. The other times Demarcus has been disciplined it has been for completely unrelated incidents. I think we all know Demarcus' issues are with his emotions and not his teammates. If it was an attempt at humor it was in poor taste, either way it was a stupid thing to say.

How did this suddenly become about Cousins. To the best of my knowledge all he did was show up and play the game. Sager makes an uncalled for comment, and your ragging on Cousins. Just what the hell did he do to desreve that at an all star game? The fact that Sager says these things all the time makes it allright? Thats nonsense. Who the hell dresses him?

Try as Sager might, he'll never approach Don Cherry status.

Never.

And I know it eats him up inside. So much so that he spends his time trying to create misery for others, knowing all too well that it cannot mask the misery that lives within.

NEVER!!

I really don't understand why Sager has such a high profile job on NBA telecasts after nearly 30 years (to say nothing of "Kermit the Frog" Jim Gray). I remember when Sager was "color man" for the Kansas City Kings, which is around the time he got noticed by someone at network level for wearing silly loud clothing. Anytime a reporter trys to make himself part of the story (to say nothing of the main part) I am completely turned off by such unprofessional bozo conduct. For me Sager thumb down, Gray double thumbs down.

Doesn't make it ok to blast him like that in that situation. This is the all star break. We are supposed to be celebrating the game, and the youth of the league, and there was no call for blasting DMC on that stage, especially during an interview with a former teammate during a trophy presentation. Totally uncalled for.

Actually I have never heard Cousins complain that he wasn't getting the ball enough. So, no, what he said wasn't true. You may be tired of coddled athletes, which Cousins hasn't been on the Kings that I have seen, but I can't stand reporters that over dramatize and make up facts to pick up a pay check. I don't like the employers who think this is OK. The "reporters" are responsible for what they do just as the coddled athlete is.

If Sager had raised it to his facem, in an interview, that would have been one thing. To blindside the guy with a cheap shot he can't respond to, at the awards podium, on All Star weekend, after he's just had a big game and helped make the MVP the MVP...classless.

i dont have a problem with sagers stating his opinion... my issue is the time and place... for cousins personally.. its like adding salt to the wound... im sure he was upset that he didnt get the mvp as is already... then on top of that he has some idiot rubbing it in...

lets not forget hes only 20 years old... hell eventually mature...

And something that's been lost in all of this: he totally dissed Wall too. This was his moment to shine, and he put him in an awkward position with having to defend his teammate.

Someone needs to make a .gif of Cousins' face. That was priceless

"I had some flashbacks (to Kentucky)," Cousins said. "It was fun being out there with John. That year didn't last long enough, but it's over now."
aw ;_;

This is going to be Cousins' reality. We can blame the media all we want, but that doesn't change the reality of the situation. The sooner Cousins realizes that there is real negative backlash to his behavior beyond the team giving him a slap on the wrist, the better.

There already is negative backlash. The refs recognize a bad rep, bloggers and talking heads criticize him, and nba fans think he's a headcase. There's no need for sager to do what he did when he did it. Totally uncalled for.

There is nothing that will change the basic anger/competitiveness that is part of him. He can deal with it better and usually as people get older, some of that tends to mellow. As one coach said, I'd rather have the task of trying to control the fire in a player than to try to build a fire under him. :)

I love an avatar (like yours - and mine) that express a profound moment in time.
